THE GOSPEL according to MATHEW

In Mathew we see the

>> Sermon on the mount (it was a mountain near the sea of Galilee) - chapters 5, 6 and 7

>> Parables – in chapter 13 and throughout

>> Sermon on the Olive mount – chapters 24 and 25 (prophecy about what’s going to happen in the future)

>> In the gospel of John – we see Jesus teaching about – the death of Jesus, His resurrection, his glorious position in heaven and his mediator

>> Again as we come to Acts onwards – we see the first message of God to the Christians

>> Then we have the epistles – as an exhortation for the followers of Christ – all practical training to make us worthy for heaven.

>> Finally we have the book of Revelation – each time we study we get more mysteries revealed – it’s a special book of God revealing our future and destiny.

This Sermon on the mount – is a basic or general principles Lord Jesus first taught the people – it doesn’t say about salvation or the price Jesus is going to pay on the cross to redeem us. Some people believe that this sermon on the mount is Gospel – (just like some people roam around Psalms)

>> What is Gospel – 1 Cor 15: 1-4 – the gospel which I preached to you.

Gospel is a message where Christ is focused.

Chapters- 1 to 4 – contains the geneology and the Birth of Jesus Christ which is very familiar for us, so lets proceed on to Chapter 5 onwards where the teachings of our Lord starts.

Chapter-5

Verse 3 – Poor in spirit – doesn’t mean poor, but thirsty and needy of the Holy Spirit -  as in Verse 6

Verse 6 –Hunger and thirst for righteousness

>> Luke 1:53 - He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty.

>> John 7: 37, 38 - On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink...............out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

Verse 8 – Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Pure – sanctified by the word and led by the spirit (then only holy spirit will continually dwell in our heart).

>> In Corinthians – when a person is born again – all the old has gone – behold everything is new – so lets asks God (like Ezekiel and David) (Ezek 36:26 and Ps 51:10) – give me a new heart and a new spirit.

Verse 9 – Peacemakers – that is the character of God – they shall inherit heaven

>> James 3:18 - Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Verse 10 – Those who are persecuted for Christ’s sake –

1 Peter 4:16 - if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter

Verses 11 & 12 – When they say wrong against you – Great is your reward in heaven (for every prize you pay) when they trouble you.

>> Rejoice and be exceedingly glad – because your reward in heaven is being very  great .

>> Acts 5:41 - So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.

>> Acts 16:25 - But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

>> 1 Peter 4:13 - but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

>> Even Old testament prophets were persecuted in the same way – much before you.

Verse 13 – You are the salt of the world –

Ø give others the essence and flavor

Ø let the world know your quality (you a God’s special people)

Ø making others life a great joy (saving them from fear and bondage).

>> These days believers are afraid of satan and the term – fight with devil –

Regarding the word of God - or Holiness – people are least bothered.

>> If we don’t have that specialty (salt) – you will be cast out 0- it is just like you are not called.

Verses 14-16 – You are the light of the world

>> You are placed by God like a city on the hill – everyone is watching you

>> Like a lamp which gives light to the whole house (we know from the parable of Jesus – if this light should continuously shine – you should have oil and be constantly awake)

Don’t keep the talents hidden  - let them shine

>> If a light should shine at its best.

·        Good voltage

·        The surface should be clear – so as to reflect

·        You can’t hide inside or be silent – you have to witness –Acts 1:30 – for that you need the divine power from above. Receive it. (read verses 4 & 5 and 8)

>> Eph 5:8-14 - Walk as children of light..........Therefore He says: “ Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

Verse 20 – For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

>> In the zeal to follow the word, in tithe and in every word

TITHE – When we had little income – giving tithe was easy

But now – we have many excuses

Tithe – is an old testament rule

For us – your righteousness should be more than the Pharisees – so atleast more than 10%, again in the New testament it says – a share

>> Malachi 3:8 - “ Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘ In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.

Verse 27 & 28–In New testament  - law is more strict that the old testament

Verse 29 & 30 – Whatever hindrance to be holy (then only Lord will dwell in you)

>> Even if it is EYE or HANDS or LEG – Lord says – BUT IT OFF……….

>> Again repeated in Mark 9:43 – 48 – here the words of Jesus are marked clearly into three paragraphs and very clearly stating what is going to happen otherwise – hell fire)

Verse 38 - 47 – The difference between old testament law and new testament

** That difference you should have – you are born again

Verse 45  – then only you will be Lord’s children and live in heaven.

>> Tax collectors – sinners

Verse 48 – You have to be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect

>> Heb 6:1 - .....leaving the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.

>> 1Peter 1:15,16 - but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” (Levi 11:44,45)

>> Always in the Bible Lord has shown a difference between the Worldly (goes according to the world) and the Spiritual (led by the spirit)

>> Rev 22:11 - he who is filthy, let him be filthy still ……. he who is holy, let him be holy still….Behold I am coming quickly.

Chapter - 6

Verses 3 & 4 – When you do a help to a person, let it not be told in public, (its should be done so secret that you left hand should not know what your right hand has done)

>> Lord Jesus says in above verse 2 – if you blow the horn (proclaim), you got your reward – this is what you want (people to praise you), its done and its over, nothing left for eternity.

(They used to gather public in a town centre to proclaim the help they are doing to others – advertising the sponsorship)

Verses 5 & 6 – Similarly when you pray also, let your prayers be not for a show, for pouring out your heart (with tears and a broken heart) – that’s why Lord says – go to your room, shut the door and pray to your father.

Verses 16 - 18 – Similarly when you fast also, don’t make it a show, look shabby and dull, but be fresh and let others know how much you are refreshed by God.

Let all our ministry be to show Lord, not to show people, because rewards comes from the Lord.

>> Ps 118:6 - The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

>> Heb 13:6 - So we may boldly say: “ The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (taken from the above Psalm)

Now about Prayer -

Verse 8 – Do not be like the gentiles (they beg and take vows to receive things)

But for us – Before we ask – He knows – so leave all to Him – He is the potter, the maker and controller of our life. Lord knows everything

>> To ask – he has told about Holy spirit and its filling – which we hardly ask.

Verses 9-13 – A pattern of how prayer should be by Lord who accepts our prayer.

>> Our Father – Hallowed be your name – WORSHIP

>> Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven – RULERSHIP – In heaven only Lords will is done – nothing else – same in my life also – we  should submit for that.

>> Give us this day – our daily bread – (ONLY TODAY’S NEEDS– that too in a word – because Lord already knows)

>> Give me grace so that I can forgive others as you forgive my disobedience – FORGIVENESS

>> Do not let me fall in the traps and temptation of the devil, keep me far from satan – DELIVERANCE and VICTORY

>> Yours is the kingdom and power and dominion and glory – Ending prayer with a complete SUBMISSION and SURRENDER,

Putting everything in God’s hands.

Again about the worries in your life (that’s what reflect in your prayers)

>> What is in your heart reflect in your prayers  - If we are greedy or selfish – that’s reflects in our prayers. If we have a mind to be fully obedient to Lord’s counsel – that also reflects in our prayers.

Verse 25 - 34 – Do not worry about tomorrow

Verse 29 – When God provides (without our asking – as the birds and animals don’t ask), it will be much more blessed and glorious that Solomon and all that he has in all its glory.

>> Ps 39:5 - ……Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor.

>> So which is good – our asking or Lord’s providing without our asking.

·        You might say – “Only a crying baby gets milk”

Yes that’s true  - even the Bible says to desire milk like a new born baby – but that milk is the undiluted word of God – not our desires.

>> We still are not able to understand this mystery.

We are thinking – if we don’t ask we wont get.

·        Gentiles are asking, even they are getting much more than us, so understand that – its not because of our asking.

·        When God knows that we need something, if he thinks it is the right time, he will allow us to receive, that’s all.

·        James 4:3,4 – If you ask more to spend it for your pleasures, you wnt receive anything from heaven.

Ø When we take it as a demand and we keep it always in our heart – that’s when it becomes a lust (which is a place for Lord and the Holy spirit to dwell)

Ø If Lord allows us to have, have it – be more thankful to the Lord.

Ø If Lord doesn’t allow us now – just keep quiet, Lord has a different plan in His heart – That is the mystery we need to understand

·        Lord is not concerned about this worldly matter – He did not die on the cross for that, but to fulfill God’s divine plan in us and through us.

·        To prepare us for heaven.

>> That’s why in this chapter – as Lord teaches us about prayer – he also teaches us to drive out LUST from our life and from prayers.

Verse 22 & 23 – If eye is bad, whole body becomes bad.

>> Eye bad – means – BAD VISION – then whole body will be full of darkenes (instead of divine light)

Verse 24 – You can’t serve 2 masters – GOD & MAMMON

MAMMON – is an Aramaic or Syrian  word for RICHES.

>> This is the common challenge (trial and temptation) every child of God faces.

Verses 19 - 21 – Finally with an exhortation of Jesus – let us close this chapter.

All what we have in this world – moths will eat, rust will destroy, thieves will break and steal.

So Jesus says – LAY UP TREASURES in HEAVEN (let this be our prayer)

The souls we gain for the Lord are surely our treasures in heaven – so from now on – let our interest and prayers be –

Lord make me an instrument to gain souls for your kingdom.

·        Some might call

·        Some might counsel

·        Some might pray (in fasting and in prayers) – do you think this is the easiest option – NO

·        Some might build them up in the word and in the spirit

·        Some might show them the Love of God as treating them as a family member.

Anyway in every way let us work together for that great work of God. Where your treasure will be – there your heart will be.

Ø Let our heart not be much on anything that we have in this world, but in the eternal life that we are eagerly waiting for.

SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD – that’s ALL……..rest ALL after that ….Amen

Chapter - 7

Verse 1 – Judging is Lord’s part, He is the eternal and righteous judge. Man always judges from outside, which is many a times wrong, but God discerns our hearts, knows the intentions of our thoughts and weighs our works.

Verse 2 – How your to others , that is how you will be repaid

Verses 3 - 5 – When we need to exhort or rebuke others, we have to be atleast correct in that matter.

We cant preach or teach what is not in our life –

>> Lord calls such people – HYPOCRITE

Verse 6 – So here PIGS and DOGS – about 2 hopeless cases Lord discusses

·        PIGS – Their head always down –searches for things where its head is focused and searches for good things in the dirt.

·        Dogs – In 2 Peter 2:20-22 – An animal which eats what it vomits – without any distaste or awkward feeling – no shame for it – and its body accepts it.

>> If you give them the valuable word – they will trample it and then attack you – JESUS says.

Verses 7 - 11 –  Ask , seek , knock – This is taken in a wrong sense because in Mathew – he has omitted what to ask.

>> In Luke 11:9-13 – it is clear what to ask and how much we will get.

>> There are many parables and teachings which are sometimes more clear in one of the gospels than the other.

Verses 13 & 14 – Lord says – there is no time to waste by focusing on this world because  - Lord Jesus says – Narrow is the gate –

·        Difficult is the way which leads to eternal life

·        and there are only few who find it (not everyone who has come to the Lord)

Jesus is telling to the Jews

Verse 15- 20 – False prophets and False teachers – Whole throughout the Bible Lord says = They come in sheeps clothing – with that color and sound

·        Beware of them

·        Know them by their fruit –

·        Discern their works – whether from Lord or not

·        A bad tree can never bear good fruit

19 – They are kept by the Lord to be thrown into fire

Verse 21 – Every one that says Lord, Lord shall not enter into the kingdom, but

He who does (works out) the will of the Father

>> So seek and find – what is the will of my Father about me, then only you will enter into the kingdom of God.

·        Every one that preaches the word wont

·        Every one that baptizes wont

·        Every one that offers to the Lord wont

·        Every minister wont

·        Every miracle worker wont  (read next 2 verses)

Verses 22 - 23 – To all those who tried to do something for the Lord and in the name of the Lord – but couldn’t do the will of the Lord –

Again repeated in Luke 13:23 – 27

>> Get away from me – door is closed forever

Verses 24 - 27 –

How great rain, floods, great winds (will come – don’t say there is No porattam), but A person who does the will of the Father, will stay strong – will not be shaken.

>> Satan always asks Lord permission and try to shaken us.

Verse 28, 29 – Scribes – full of word (in letter)

But Jesus (as He did the will of God) – He also spoke from the law of Moses – but it was will full of power, authority over devil and full of spirit.

>> 2 Cor 3:6 - who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

>> People were astonished about the difference – even though they couldn’t accept the words of Jesus, they understood it was not like the dry words of scribes (no spirit).

Chapter - 8

Verses 2-4 – This is the most horrible disease, when a person is affected, no one shows any mercy to him and blames him, every one forsook him.

No one has a mind to deliver him or try to help him out, he thought Jesus was also like other worldly people, so he asked – Lord - are you willing,

He had no hope in life, But through Jesus he is made new and he got back his hope to live

Verse 4 – Instead of telling others, go straight to the people who – questioned the you and the Creator. And offer that gift and be cleansed according to the law of Moses (as in Levi 14:4 onwards) – so that it will be a record to all the Jews that there is nothing that God cannot heal – whether leprosy or any defect.

Verses 5 & 6 – Now about the healing of a centurion’s son (a Roman officer in command of a hundred men)

Verse 10 – Assuredly I have not seen such faith in Israel (those who are called to have faith in God). Many a times gentiles are much better in God’s sight - Isnt it a moment to be ashamed.

Verses 11 & 12 – As a prophecy Jesus said – Many will come from East (India) and West and have a place in heaven, but the chosen generation Israel will be cast out into outer darkness.

Verse 13 – And Jesus healed many kilometers away. His word gives life

>> John 10:10 - The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Verse 14 & 15 – Jesus healed Peter’s mother – Immediately she arose and served Jesus. Whatever is a hindrance for you to serve Jesus,

Tel the Lord – he will touch you and deliver you from all these hindrances

Verses 16 & 17 – Then again all those who came to the presence of Jesus – Healed the diseases and delivered them from all their demons.

Verses 19 & 20 – He told his decision that he has decided to follow Jesus (he told it whole heartedly)

>> Lord was saying – Desire is good, but do you know what awaits you. Don’t expect that you will get things in this world – Look at the path of the Son of God, don’t expect anything more – rewards will be eternal.

**(Luke 9:23 – (also in Math) - If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Verse 21 & 22 – Another follower said - Lord, let me first go and bury my Father

Jesus said – First you follow me, let the dead (spiritually dead (Eph 2:1  – a physically dead person cannot bury another dead person) give importance to the worldly formalities, Lord is concerned about your calling more than what is given to you temporarily (only for this world).

>> Whose image is on you ? Caesars or Jesus

Give importance to the matter of God – to the counsel of God – and Follow me

** Both these are foolishness according to today’s preachers, but this is the truth of God.

Verse 24 - 26 – Lord – we are perishing (the tempest was so great that the sea men were also panicked)

>> Lord already knows what is going on – he painfully says – O ye of little faith

They are walking with Jesus for months and years – but they really don’t know who Jesus really is – what He can do – His authority (on nature –on the devil – even on our life)

Verse 28 -  The region of Gadara - This is an area partitioned to the tribe – Gad

They are jews – they never should engage in rearing pigs (Levi 11), but in front of money – all the laws flew away (as some say – nothings flies ahead of money).

>> That’s the reason maybe Jesus allowed these demons (on two men coming out of tombs) to go on pigs and destroy them

Verse 34 – The whole city begged Jesus (this is the first case where a whole city rejected Jesus over the issue of a pig)(satan makes some issue for people to reject the truth)(he has blinded your eyes) – Even if you are not here – No problem –

·        The whole area knows what really happened- that the two demon possessed got free – but still they don’t want to take decisions.

They know the truth – but they only want a Jesus who gives Health & Wealth

Jesus – If you touch those areas or bring suffering or cross in my life – I don’t want that Jesus

>> Please don’t come here often to spoil our great income.

>> Please depart from our area. Its not possible for Jesus and great gain together.

Ø There are many things in our life which our law doesn’t allow

Ø Which you don’t like

Ø And which we cant forsake.

Chapter - 9

In this chapter again we see lots of miracles and work of the Lord to prove to the world who He is.

Verse 2 – About this paralytic person we see a better description in Mark chapt 2:1onwards. (that the people broke the roof and brought this man in to Jesus)

Verses 3-7 – Some of the scribes – started thinking and talking against Jesus.

>> They were not able to accept or understand the power and authority of Jesus

>> Miracles OK – even many magicians do, but how does He have the authority over all mankind and their eternity

>> These scribes did not like to be below Jesus, they thought they had more knowledge in the world than Jesus. (These days everyone is thinking, they are all ministers) – But we forget calling and authority is not taken from God – but it is the selection of God which is granted by God –

Here Jesus ministered by the authority from Father – which these scribes couldn’t accept.

>> Authority is always proved to public (by Father) – if not accepted

Here also the same.

Verse 8 – When proved to public, they marveled and glorified God.

>> We always see a great majority (among believers – here jews) who glorify God when they see a miracle.

>> But none of these glorifying people were seen at the cross

Glorifying God when a miracle happens in our life is acceptive , but being there at the cross time is not my part, I will escape in neutral even if something like that comes.

Verse 9 – This Mathew immediately is telling about his calling and his obedience for that calling in a single verse – with all humbleness

Verse 10 -  But Luke is making it clear in Luke 5:27 – 29 (His jewish name is Levi – also written in Mark 2:14 – 16)

>> So as Luke says  - this Mathew  - when he came to the Lord – He wanted his contacts or his colleagues to come to the Lord (this is what Lord expects from us – be a platform for the Lord to work)

So he called a feast in his house and invited a great number of tax collectors as a party – his intention was that they would also hear this good gospel from Jesus –

He made his home a meeting place to invite all his contacts – God was pleased.

Verse 11 – Now I am great and high status – I don’t want to sit with tax collectors and sinners (those whom the world hates)

>> We forget – from what miry clay Lord pulled us out – before being fully immerged (gone forever) – cleansed us and put us on a firm platform now.

>> Be available to witness Jesus – among those who are in real need of him (trapped and bounded by great devils)

Verse 12 – Answer to their statement from Jesus

Verse 13 – if you cant have mercy to those who need Jesus (not to built a mercy home as a charity work – that is only satisfying the bodily needs), then God doesn’t need your offering (sacrifice) – whether it be of praise or money offering.

Verses 14 & 15 - You have to fast when you are far from Jesus – so that you will be close to Jesus – Also repeated in Mark chapt 2.

Verses 16 & 17 – Here Jesus proves that  - I have not come to add to the Old testament (to edit and make it better) – but to make a completely new law for a new period – Grace Period – a New testament era – or an Apostolic ministry (from a priesthood ministry)

Heb 7:18 & 19 – Old testament is a shadow to prove the New testament (Here its about how we should be in this Grace period) – then there remains another book of the eternal future – the book of Revelation (they are blessed Rev 1:3)

Heb 8: 6, 7 & 13 – It doesn’t mean that you don’t accept the Old testament, its place is to prove a better law has been made – specially for us – those who are redeemed for Christ.

>> John 1:17 – Through Apostle John, the Holy spirit tells us - For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

>> Paul says in 2 Tim 1:11– to which I am appointed as a preacher and teacher.

Verse 21 &22 – Only if I touch Him or experience Him, I will be healed – NO OTHER WAY OUT.

>> Be of good cheer

Verse 18 – again continues in verse 23 -25

Verse 24 – When Jesus said the truth, people like Sarah (those who are not able to believe) start making fun and laugh.

Verse 25 – The crowd (all those who laughed were put outside), then only the planned work of Jesus will be revealed.

>> That’s why Jesus says – when you all pray in one mind and holiness– there deliverance of Jesus (which is eternal) will happen.

Verse 28- 29 – Again two blind me healed

>> Do you believe that I am able to do this

>> According to your faith, let it be done

Verse 36- 38 – Something which gives a great burden to the Lord – scattered sheep – walking like sheep having no shepherd.

>> The duty of the shepherd is to guide, discipline and protect.

(There are many jumping sheeps – when the shepherd tries to correct – they say – I am from a different shepherd – they say that to walk free.

Ø  Lord hates those kind of sheep – sheep with no shepherd

Ø And Lord hates shepherds who don’t really guide their sheeps (thinking – why should I rebuke and exhort them – what if they leave the church

They are not faithful – so Lord is telling the church to PRAY (to the Father)FOR FAITHFUL LABORERS

>> Laborers in number or ID cards are plenty – but Jesus (the chief Shepherd) says – Laborers are very few – but lots of harvesting to be done – field has become ripe together, they have to be gathered now – otherwise the efforts will be useless.

·        This is what we should Pray for

Chapter - 10

In this chapter we see Jesus appointing the first batch of disciples – 12 – to first minister for Israel and then after the resurrection of Jesus (the beginning of the New testament Grace or Salvation through Christ period).

Verse 1 -  Here in this chapter Jesus is selecting them and giving them authority to minister and to work miracles.

>> John the Baptist was the last old testament minister and the person who was called to make way for Jesus – but he did not do a single miracle – no healing or no casting out demons.

So what do we understand – this is a authority on to New testament ministers – where we work miracles in the name of Jesus.

>> Math 16:19 - And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed[d] in heaven

>> Math 18:18 - “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Verses 2 – 4 – The names of 12 disciples

Verses 5 – 6 – As long as Jesus is present, or the first chance is given only to the Israelites (lost sheep)

>> Purposely Jesus came them the chance first (first and last chance), Lord is a righteous God. If he needs to reject his sheep, he needs to give them a final chance – that was the 3.5 years of ministry on this earth.

>> We know the parable, I send many prophets – they rejected and killed

Now I will send my only son – still they rejected and killed

Now I will put them away –

>> Math 21:41 - He will destroy those wicked men miserably, and lease his vineyard to other vinedressers who will render to him the fruits in their seasons.

Verse 8 – All these authorities and gifts – freely you have got – freely give.

You should never commercially use this – or for your benefit

·        Acts 8:20 - But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!

Verses 9-10 – Don’t gather for God’s work. It is not yours, If its Lord’s – He will provide your ministerial needs all throughout.

>> No spare (dress or sandals or staff) is needed – He will give you new when your old is gone

>> This mystery many servants of the Lord are not able to understand.

>> Only one thing – none of your desire is going to work out

If you obey God’s counsel and start His work by faith – all what is needed – He will give

Verse 11 – When you go for ministry – look or find out who is worthy, stay with them.

>> So even to support evangelist or a ministry, you need to be worthy in the fiery eyes of God.

>> Any Tom, Dick and Harry cannot sponsor Lord’s program. They can maybe sponsor an organization in their works – but here Lord says – I don’t need them for my worthy

>> Even servants of the Lord or ministerial heads should not accept money from any one who is willing to offer – As Jesus says here – discern by the spirit – if He is worthy

Verses 12 - 15 – Say what the Holy spirit gives in mouth – spirit wont say any foolishness because it is a spirit of knowledge and the spirit of Lord.

>> Then if the hearer doesn’t accept it – you don’t think about that

>> You don’t use your wisdom to make it acceptive

>> Just shake off your dust in that house – and the judgment of the Lord will be  much more horrible than what Lord did in Sodom and Gomorrah (not now – in the day of final judgment)

Verse 16 – Satan will influence many to turn against your – religious heads, political heads, family people etc – at that time Lord will fill you with heavenly wisdom to deal with these wolves.

Verse 18 - 20 – When you are questioned and blamed – you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake (prophecy) – if you speak the true gospel

>> At that time what you need to speak will be provided by the Holy spirit.

It is not you work – it is Lord’s work – you minister by faith.

Ø In verse 9-10 – we saw all your needs – while you do ministry – God will provide – do not gather for that.

Ø All what you need to speak – God will provide in your mouth

Ø What Time – God will tell you

Ø Ideas or plans – God will reveal you

·        Then who are you – a faithful servant of God who is ready to obey what God speaks – If you are obedient

·        Lord will use you like Joshua, like Caleb, like Gideon and other anointed servants of God.

·        God looks at you heart not your outer being or appearance – otherwise he would have never selected David and Paul.

Verses 21-22– Family members will be against – a person – who really stands for Christ. This problem happens when the different people of a family have different visions and differences in beliefs and opinion concerning the Word

>> 1 Cor 1:18 - For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved (the pre-destinated) it is the power of God.

·        This is the problem – the message of the cross – who can accept it – You are on the Lord’s side – otherwise – opposite side.

Ø But those who endure till the last will be saved

Ø The SILENT and WISE as in Math 10:16 - “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Verse 23 – This is not a cowardly flee – but an act of wisdom for the further spreading of Gospel and work of the Lord

Jesus was telling his disciples – you will not be accepted (or when you speak this message of cross) – you will have to run from Jerusalem (their own place – and again in other places also – it will not be accepted – that’s why you will have to move all over Israel (who think that they know the word – who have been hearing the word for long – whose ears are overflowing with word)

>> Gentiles accepted the word with more faith and more fear – so we see more than the church in Jerusalem and Israel – church grew and the work of the Lord was revealed more in the gentile countries.

>> Math 16:13 – 19 (you will have to receive the revelation from God)

13 – Whom do men say I am ?

15 – Whom do you say I am ?

Their name is – Disciples – But see the variations in the answers and opinions.

Only Peter understood it – if it was brains – Mathew or later Luke should understand it (they are very learned) –

But here Peter understood it – and Jesus said – its Heavenly Father who revealed it to you.

Verses 24 & 25 – A disciple is not above his master.

Don’t try to be smarter or greater than your Master (Jesus)

>> Jesus did not get any respect or position or fame or riches in this world

He was rejected everywhere – opposed whenever He opened His mouth to tell the truth – Luke 23:31 - For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”

>> Very encouraging words – Isnt it – we are expecting encouragement in a different way (Maybe a push and support from behind but Jesus is teaching to fly like how an Eagle teaches its child – drop it from a high place) – make us alone among people who oppose us – that’s the perfect timing to TRUST in God.

Verse 26 – Jesus is telling His faithful children – Do not be afraid

>> It will be revealed in this world – and on the judgment day

>> Lord is going to reveal the inside to everyone –

like how we pull off our dress – then the inside of the dress is revealed outside.

>> Lord says – Nothing will be hidden – when everything will be made public – what a shame – its going to be.

Verse 27 – What we receive from the Lord (secretly in our prayer room) – proclaim it in public

>> What your hear in your ears (from Jesus) - preach on the house tops

Verse 28 – Do not fear any human (those who can kill your body only) – they can do NO good or NO harm to you

>> But fear Jesus – who only has the authority to kill your body and soul and put you in hell fire.

Verse 29 & 30 – If God cares so much for the smallest and cheapest bird (no good no harm) – sparrow

>> How much more will the Lord care for you – who are made unto His image to be his share partners in heaven

>> You don’t know the number of your hairs – but Lord has numbered the number of your hair – and not even one of it will fall down without His permission.

Verses 32 & 33 – An important message hear –

>> Don’t be ashamed to witness Jesus – if so – you will surely end up in HELL

Do not DENY Jesus or His living WORD

Verses 34 - 36 – From this verse onwards – it’s a mystery Jesus speaks

·        You will have peace as long as you give 1st priority to Jesus.

If not – then sword

·        Jesus says – Don’t think that I came to – make you live as a family and enjoy this world. I did not come that the love of this world (love to family or money) increases in your life

·        If you heart and your love is turning to anything else (family, parents, children, job, business, position) – where is it decreasing – your heartful love towards Jesus is decreasing.

·        Let nothing – absolutely nothing in this world – make the love towards Jesus decrease in your life

·        Give each thing its value – all the relationships in this world are temporary – Do you believe that – Do you accept that – It will all go
But the love towards Jesus – the love between Jesus and the church – that is a mystery – it is ever-ever-ever lasting.

Verses 37 - 39 – This a  great and deep mystery -

Verse 37 – He who loves his family more than me is not worthy for me (you are not worthy to be the bride of Jesus) – not worthy for heaven

Verse 38 – He who does not take up his cross and follow me – is not worthy for me

Verse 39 –  If you try to make your life great – you will lose it

Ø If you try to lose your life (for Christ) – you will find it

Ø There are many things we all can do – but always we keep quiet (like Jesus) and work out only the will of the Father – then Lord will work for you – you will be protected and honored by the Lord- Your life will be safe and eternal life for sure.

>> Also written in Luke 9:23, 24

Verses 40 - 42 – Whatever you do for the kingdom of God – every small thing will be accounted and surely we will receive eternal rewards

>> All of our labour for Christ will not go in vain

1 Cor 15:58 - Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Chapter - 11

This is a chapter where the ministry of Jesus is revealed to the Israel into the next level – who He really is ?

Verse 2 -  John the Baptist is in jail, but he is enquiring and getting reports through his disciples about the teachings and ministry of Jesus.

Verse 3 – So he is confirming it by sending his question through two of his disciples – Are you the coming One – Messiah) or should we wait for or search for another One ?

Verses 4 & 5 – Jesus – answered – discerning the question

>> Go and tell John all the work of the Lord you see here – experience and then go witness –

>> They actually came to record the statement what Jesus said and go and repeat like a parrot – but Jesus said – I am not giving you anything to repeat – You taste and see for yourself.

>> Who is the person who has the authority –

·        To give life and to take life

·        To open a way and to shut a way

·        To bless and to curse

·        To honor and to put to shame

·        To deliver from Satan and to give to the devil

·        To bind and to break all bondages

Verse 6 – And blessed is he who does not get offended while experiencing Jesus

>> So there is a tendency of being offended as we experience in our life – the counsel of Jesus.

Math 10 :34-36 -(I did not come to bring peace but sword in family…… and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.

Verse 10 – taken from Malachi 3:1 – Written about John the Baptist – Lord comments that John is the messenger who came to prepare way for me – or a New testament church through me.

Verse 11 – John the Baptist is the greatest born among all the Old testament believers but a person who is born in my kingdom – is greater than them.

>>Least (a new believer)  in Jesus is so powerful – are we ? why couldn’t we get that power in all these years

·        why doesn’t this battery get charged

·        where is the charge leaking

Verse 14 – Many people have a doubt concerning this verse – so Is John the Baptist  - Elijah.

>> In John 1:21 – John himself says in the spirit of truth – NO – I am not

>> Here Jesus says so – because their ministries were similar – for the Jews to understand.

Verse 18 & 19 – Comments about John – he is a demon because he sits with tax collector and sinner. (He is there the with the perishing souls)

>> Lord’s comments and man’s comments – are so different

>> Lord see’s the inside and outside

Verse 20 – Jesus started to curse and reject all those who are who did not repent – after he travelled through those lands and preached the gospel – no one accepted.

Verses 21 &22 – Lord is speaking to these two places near Capernaum – Chorazin and Bethsaida – they heard the word and saw the miracles (that they like) from Jesus but still they don’t want to repent. They don’t want to accept the words of Jesus.

** If you don’t obey the counsel of God – Woe unto them

Lord wants us to repent in sackcloth and ashes (in fasting)

>> Otherwise – your case is worse than Sodom and Gomorah

Verse 23 – Capernaum – received more of the Lord from the devil. If Sodom received that counsel of God – they would never have been destroyed

Verse 24 – If you don’t obey the counsel of God – Your case will be worse the than the dead sea. (your later will be worse than the beginning).

Verse 25 – Father – I thank you God because you have hidden it to the wise and prudent of the world and revealed it to us – who are not worthy

>> Eph 1:8 -which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence (we get only from God) – many people who are academically great are a failure in their personal life.

Verse 26 – I am not qualified or worthy for this revelation or this ministry – but it seemed Good in you sight to select me – unworthy

Verse 27 – Everything is by Father will and control

>> The ministry or any everlasting – son will reveal to whom Jesus like- or selects

Verse 28 -  All those who have heavy burden (whether personal or regarding ministry) – Come to me (don’t run there and here) – I will give you deliverance and a great peace (Only I can help you out)

Verse 29 – You cant simply learn – Take my yoke (responsibility) and then learn.

>> Amidst all this burden (heavy laden) – you will get peace and heavenly joy in this world and eternal life in heaven.

1 John 5:3 - For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

Verse 30 – In verse 28 – it was very hard and heavy laden

But now it has suddenly become light and easy for you – what is the reason - it became so light and easy.

How – the Lord made it easy (he is helping us) and light (he is carrying our burden)

>> Yoke : Gal 5:1 – do not be under the yoke of bondage (sin)

1 Tim 6:1 – Be under the yoke of your master

Chapter - 12

These groups – Pharisees and Scribes are not a God made groups, they are man-made groups of that jewish community – always a hindrance for the ministry of Jesus. As Jesus spoke the true word and many a times boldly spoke the real spiritual or inner condition (white painted tombs), they were always behind Jesus to find a mistake it Him outwardly so they could blame him and blaspheme Him in public.

Verses 1 & 2 – As they were looking, on a Sabbath day, Jesus and disciples plucked grain and started to eat.

>> Now let us think upon – why did disciples pluck grain from roads and eat, didn’t anyone arrange food for the ministry of Jesus.

>> In Math 8:19, 20 - Jesus said to a scribe who wanted to follow Him - “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

For a real ministry (by the spirit of God) – the world will always be discouraging, all sources will be cut. Satan purposely does this so that he will compromise and not speak the total truth.

>> But as Jesus spoke all what Father has entrusted Him, Not only Jesus, also His followers had to go through extreme hunger and needs.

>> Deut 23:25 - When you come into your neighbor’s standing grain, you may pluck the heads with your hand, but you shall not use a sickle on your neighbor’s standing grain.

**So the mistake disciples did was not – stole and ate – but because they took the grain – harvest was not allowed n Sabbath.

Verse 3 – Taken from 1 Sam 21:1-6 – David was walking in the desert because Saul did not allow the real – anointed by God – to do his ministry.

>> Here also the real – anointed by God personality is Jesus – that’s when these Pharisees, Scribes and High priest rule and hinder the ministry of Jesus.

Verse 6 – I am greater than your temple and the law. Two things which they counted greater than the Lord. They were the hindrances for them to recognize their calling

Their calling was to be the children of Messiah (Jesus) – John 1:12, but their community was a hindrance.

Verse 7 – It is taken from Hosea 6:6

If they knew what the Lord desires(expects) from us – it was wonderful.

Verse 8 – In the sight of Jews – the most important thing in their life is their Sabbath. If that is touched, they will finish off that person.

But here Jesus makes it clear – the one who is speaking to you is the Lord – even of Sabbath.

Verse 10 – Still they are after Jesus to catch him by His words.

Now they are asking tricky question – no way to escape.

They didn’t know that - it was to God of all wisdom – who discerns every intentions of our heart and deals with such a person accordingly – Job 5:12 & 13

>> Also understand that they believed that Jesus had the authority to heal and to give life – but they couldn’t accept it – they didn’t want it that way.

>> They also knew that – if a man wanted deliverance – even on a Sabbath day, he will do it – Because He is the DELIVERER.

>> See what all games they are planning to lock Jesus in.

Verse 13 – Jesus told all these points and about His ministry, didn’t wait for their answer or confirmation. Because why does He need the acknowledgment of men – when He is given the green signal from above.

>> Without the audience permission, Jesus started to work out the plan of God.

And healed Him - Again satan ashamed.

Verse 14 – Now again plot against Jesus with the desire to destroy him

Verse 15 – Father revealed it to Him, and He silently went away from them

Verse 18-21 – Stages by stages, the ministry of Jesus is revealed as guided by the Father. Here it is written the prophecy about Jesus from Isaiah 42:1-4

·        See the good testimony from Father
whom I have chosen – and is fully pleasing to me – because of His complete obedience.

·        His fight is not with flesh – but with the evil spirits ruling this world

He will not use His power until needed
He will not be discouraged or stop until the mission entrusted is fulfilled

·        He will feel pity on the needy, will not finish them off (as in OT), but will heal and deliver the broken reed and smoking flax

·        Even to the Jews – Jesus is revealing that – If you don’t know the value of your selection and calling – I will forsake you and call gentiles (who were forsaken then) as my children.

Verse 23 – Seeing the miracles and authority over satan, people said – This might be the Messiah

Verse 24- No, he is doing all this by satan’s spirit.

Seeing the Holy One who gives the Holy spirit to whomever He wills (source of the rivers of flowing water), see what these Pharisees say – its by the demon head.

>> Who are Pharisees –

people chosen group to encourage and guide people

In front of the world, what they say I true and acceptive

they are the only ones who live exactly according to the word

their life is full of a spiritual drama (show) to the whole world

Peter, John, Paul etc – they are God chosen people – so the boldness, wisdom and guidance is from above, for Pharisees – nothing from above, all planned by themselves and now all their ways have become a practice.

Verse 25-27 – Fools – how can satan keep on driving evil spirits, then the working of his kingdom will collapse (so even if he shows wonders, that will be only temporary, after 7 times evil spirit will come upon him)

Verse 28 – But if you are able to understand that – I am the true redeemer and Savior who can deliver you from all curses and bondages – then the kingdom of God (salvation) has come upon you – otherwise you are going to be lost.

Verse 29 – If you need to deliver a person, you need to first bind the strong man (the evil force which binds that person) – and that is only possible by the spirit of Lord – never by any community or organizational power.

>> So what is important is – so leave the designation which the world has given you and receive the anointment to minister for the kingdom of God.

Verse 31 & 32 – When Jesus said these words, within their heart they criticized the spirit and its work, they believed that – no spirit is need – with the position and money they thought they are ministering for God.

>> But when real word of God is standing there, they are not able to understand, so now think which spirit is ruling them now.

Lord wants to save them, but they are stubborn on what they believe and think, they don’t want to change, what can the Lord do.

Verse 30 – He who is not with me is against me – how will we understand ?

He who does not gather – scatters.

So let us all be known as evangelist – gathering for the Lord

Gathering – means all the leaves which are far – we sweep and gather them to one place.

>> Remember – my job is to gather people to the presence of the Lord. Lord will decide if they should continue or not. We can’t judge a person by the outside, the one who calls and author of everyone’s soul is Jesus.

Verse 32 – So if any one speaks a word against the Holy spirit, it will never be forgiven.

Verse 33 – Every tree is known by its fruit

Verse 34 – Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

So if your heart is filled with the spirit of God, you will not speak against the Holy spirit or its manifestation (as in tongue, prophecy, vision, healing, or can never be against any real work of God.

>> But otherwise, such a person will unknowingly be against the work of God and will speak against spiritual word and tongues an sanctification – because that person is not controlled by the spirit of God.

Verse 35 – A man becomes spiritual when that person is guided by the spirit to speak thinks of heaven.

>> And a man who is guided by this deceiving evil spirit will be speaking about the things of this world.

Verses 36 & 37 – You are saying things by the spirit within you, and if it is against God and His divine plan, surely you will be judged accordingly.

>> If your words are controlled by the spirit – you will be justified through your words.

>> As our salvation and judgment is decided by our words, we have to be very careful.
We can’t simply say what we feel – each word is accounted – whatever we say should be for the Lord – because we are on the Lord’s side.

>> Satan is also closely watching what we say – Lord is recording every word what we say.

Verse 38 – They are asking for a sign very trickily, they wanted to catch Jesus in that.

As the spirit in them is not of God – they are using this sweet tricky trap and acting as innocent.

Verse 39 – Jesus wisely discerned it and answered back –

They were decent outside – but Jesus is calling the spirit within them – evil and adulterous.

>> So you will only get the message of Jonah.

Verse 40 – Jesus spoke to them and gave them a fitting answer through the life of Jonah – an incident form the Old testament – then one more incident…….

>> Jonah – who was almost perishing – in darkness and no chance to live – after three days and three nights – got a re-birth – for the glory of God –

**Here it was said as a prophecy about the resurrection of Jesus after 3 days.

>> to know that an anointed (sent form above) servant of God is protected  from above – only that the mission given from above should be accomplished as told by you.

** You can’t do it your way.

Verse 41 – The people of Nineveh received the message of God through Jonah (the anointed) – they repented and got saved.

>> Here there is the Holy One – greater than Jonah

Verse 42 – Solomon – the wisest and greatest king of Israel,

As Queen from the South came to hear from him, the people from all over the world will receive the message

>> Here there is the Holy One – greater than Solomon

Verse 43 – Then a good message for all those who are being saved and transformed to live for the Lord

>> For all those who are being sanctified – for all those who have a great calling to be the bride of Jesus.

Verse 44 & 45 – When a person receives sanctification (we are encouraged by the spirit of God) – for sometime no problem will be there, but the same evil spirits which have left you – the same bondages will go take a round and come back with 7 other spirts – (seven times stronger) – and in that fight there are always chances of a great fall.

>> That’s when you really need to be 7 stronger (already prepared before the blow – what is the use of being strengthened after the blow) – because that blow has already affected you badly now.

So we have to be prepared atleast 7 times stronger – after each decisions we take in our life, after each divine message we hear – which is by the spirit of God.

>> When those 7 times devil dwells in you – here Lord says – your last state will be worse than the first (that too atleast 7 times worse)

Verses 46 - 50 – Here we see Jesus talking about a relationship which is much much stronger than any family relationship.

>> Jesus was very exemplary in all his family relationship, but when it comes to the work of the Lord – Jesus asked – Who is my mother and who is my brother and sister.

>> That’s why Jesus says – If you want to follow me, deny your Father or Mother or brother or sister – you are not worthy for me (not worthy for heaven)

>> This is something many of the believers are not able to understand and don’t want to understand.

** In ministry or in the relationship with God – there is no importance for any other relation – even our family.

** Mark 10:29, 30 - So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s,

who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.

** Luke 14:33 - So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

This is our calling – IT’S A MYSTERY – the relation between Christ and the Church

**Acts 20:24 -"But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.

**Col 3:3 - For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Verse 50 – This is only what you are called for-

To work out the will of Father

>> In 1 Thess chapt 5  - Give thanks to the Lord in all circumstances – This is the will of God about you.

>> In 1 Thess 4:3  - For this is the will of God - Your sanctification

>> Heb 13:21 - Now may the God of peace make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

>> Rom 12:2 - And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Do not look at others – you find out the perfect will of God and work it out)

>> Even Jesus says in - John 6:38-40 - For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Look for verse – about -  will of God

Chapter - 13

This is a very important chapter in the bible because this chapter contains the parables about the kingdom of God. He is telling many parables but only explaining two.

Verse 2 – Jesus got into the boat and moved the boat a little further so that all those who have gathered can hear and see.

Verses 3 - 9 – In this parable the sower is the Lord,   the seed is the word of God  and the birds are the evil forces (devil).

Verse 8 – Those that fell on good ground (amidst all these birds and thorns and heat), prepared heart – only that became fruitful.

>> Lord expects not double – but – 30,  60  and 100 fold – don’t forget these numbers – and you cant chose – it depends on the calling upon you.

So first 30, then 60, finally 100 times growth – this is what Lord expects.

Verse 9 – He who has ears – hear this – as a warning – how important it is – as written to the 7 churches in Revelation.

Verses 18 - 23 – Jesus is explaining the above parable again – repeating it – explaining it in detail this time.

Verse 19 – WAYSIDE - How the bird or devil takes the word away (putting confusion in our heart)

Verses 20 & 21 – STONY PLACE – No root – when they hear the word of God – in that zeal they take decisions – but later it surfaces down.

Eg : You might have seen – when a bus passes through the road, the dry leaves all come to life – fly high – make sound – and move so fast and with great energy as if it is going to go with the bus –

But after the bus passes – it all surfaces down and stays dead and without sound or movement or power till next meeting arrives.

Verse 22 – THORNS – When they hear – want to grow strong and be fruitful. But because of the deceitfulness of riches – it chokes the word and he becomes unfruitful.

Verse 23 – This word will only be fruitful on good ground. The word is not the problem, its our heart and our life which is not favorable for the word to be grow – so our heart should transformed – then the word of God will really be powerfully proved through our lives.

*********************************

Verse 10 – Jesus says He spoke in parables to patiently explain the mysteries of His word to us.

Verse 11 – Now 2 groups

1)    To you it has been given to understand the mysteries

2)    Jesus says – But to them it has not been given

Even though the spirit of God is speaking to all those who call Him Lord – every one is not able to understand the mysteries in the word.

>> Luke 8:10 - And Jesus said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables……..

>> 1 Cor 4:1 - Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

Verse 12 – Against the worldly law – but this is how Lord does

>> Whoever has kept His word without losing it – more will be given. After hearing the word – whoever didn’t give importance to he word of God – from Him  - even what he has will be taken away.

>> It all depends on how much faithful you are to the word we hear

Verse 13 – Even after speaking in parables (very clearly – by the spirit) – still if they don’t understand

Verses 14 & 15 – Taken from Isaiah 6 : 9 , 10

To the children of God (who have already received promise) – Here ISRAEL

>> God gave them lots of chances to hear, see and understand – still they didn’t see or hear or understand – not THEOLOGY – but

·        The mystery of the word of God

·        The real counsel (truth) of God

·        Sanctification

>> So Lord commands in His wrath –

Ø Now even after hearing – you will not understand (let your ears be closed)

Ø After seeing you will not perceive (let your eyes be closed)

Ø Let your hearts be hardened

>> Also in Jer 5:21

Verse 16 – But blessed are your eyes and ears, for they see and hear.

>> According to this verse – Who is the real blessed (by Jesus)?

Ans: Those who understand and obey the mysteries of the word of God and obey them.

**********************************

Verses 24 - 30 – Another parable of man sowing only good seed in his field.

Verse 25 – When we sleep (spiritually – or enjoy the world for a while) – at that time we are on the devils side – far from God

>> That’s when satan the enemy – looking for a chance to destroy your confidence and relation with Christ – comes and sowed tares and went away (as if he is not the person who did this)

Verse 26 – After sometime in the church or among believers – it is hard to say which is real (which God sowed) and (which devil sowed) – to blaspheme the name of God.

>> Both grow together and alike – most of the time these tares grow mightier and greener than the real ones.

Verse 27 - 29 - We might have a question in our heart – why is the Lord allowing this.

>> Master says – Let them grow together – till when – until Harvest

 – because then only the world can know which is real

·        The ones without fruit are the tares

·        With fruit – are the real wheat – planted by God

Verse 29 - NO , when you try to pluck out the tares, the wheat also might be up-rooted (it will put the real wheat also into confusion and create a problem in its steady growth)

>> So Lord says – Let them continue – rest God will deal – because Lords clearly knows –those who serve Him with all their body, mind and soul.

Verse 30 – At the time of harvest – On the judgment day only – its going to be revealed.

>> All those who wear not able to bear fruit – Lord will gather and burn.

·        A great mystery we should understand – Lord has allowed the tares to grow along with the wheat.

·        Don’t try to pluck them ourselves – Master says – that I will do.

·        What we should do it – Don’t try to be like the tares – they might be bigger and greener here – But Lord is only looking at the fruits only.

·        Understand – be worthy to produce fruits, otherwise you can’t.

Verses 31 & 32 – Mustard seed might be the least of all the seeds, but when it grows , it is greater than herbs and become a tree, in which where many birds will come and find a solace or comfort or counsel.

>> The seed is always the word, when it grows in us, It surely makes a great growth in us, and we will surely influence others, Nothing will influence us.

>> Don’t think that you are the least of the seeds, Satan tells us all this to make us un-fruitful

>> 1 Cor 1:27,28 - But God has chosen the foolish things....the weak things....and the base things of the world, the things which are despised God has chosen, to change the law of this world.

Verse 33 – The kingdom of heaven is compared to a leaven which a woman took and put it in three measure – till all was leavened.

>> This leaven is also given as an example for bad comparison in Old and New testaments – as something we should move from our life.

** Like the leaven of the Pharisees – Jesus was meaning about their hypocrisy and their traditions

>> We know leaven can also spoil food as well as make curd and bread.

>> Here in this verse the leaven is compared as a good example – this little leaven applied to the whole dough should leaven the whole lump.

>> Maybe we might have a little truth or faithfulness,

or a habit of trusting in the lord or not being moved

maybe taking wise decisions, maybe patiently enduring suffering

maybe standing for the word, maybe being available for God

**whatever the good fruit of Holy spirit God has given in us, let it spread in the family and gathering and doughs God has put us in….so that the whole lump will be useful for the Master – because of us – that’s a great mystery we can do – INFLUENCE OTHERS – through the fruit of the Holy spirit God has put in you.

Verses 34 & 35 – Lord Jesus explained every mystery so clear with the help of simple stories – parables

>> It is prophesied in the Old testament –

Verse 35 is taken from Psalm 78:1,2

Verses 36-39  – Already two times in this chapter Jesus explained this parable to them, again they want an explanation.

>> We might feel angry – why the disciples did not understand this simple parable- why are they allowing satan to blind their eyes and ears.

** The same thing is happening in our lives these days – so simple Lord is explaining our calling and ministry to us, we are not able to understand because of our desires.

Verses 40-43  – The tares (unfruitful) will be gathered and burned in the last day.

>> Then Jesus is explaining about hell, disciple wanted to hear the story (we too many a times want to hear – high sounding words – powerful terms – wonderful presentation of words – some new knowledge –

But every word Jesus explains – finally he comes to eternity – means if you are not completely obedient and faithful – then hellfire

43 – He who has ears – let them hear.

Verse 44 – 46 – The kingdom of heaven compared like a treasure hidden in a field and a precious pearl

>> A wise man – once he comes to know the greatness of eternity will throw every good thing of the world to gain the eternal treasure (much more longstanding goodness).

>> Paul says – Philip 3:7,8 - But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.

Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ

>> Here this man in the parable - sold all what he has – to gain the everlasting –

**Maybe foolishness according to the knowledge of this world

**But only those who are called for eternity will understand –

**A majority of believers understand – but not able to practice in their life.

>> Heb 11: 24,25 - By faith Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.....choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,

26 - esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

Verses 47-51 – Again a parable of a fishing dragnet –

Lord – the righteous judge will accept only the good ones (Holy and blameless) all others – Lord calls bad fish will be thrown out.

Verse 52 – A scribe (Bible teacher) will always have to say old and new things to make it clear and remind you when you forget it from life (maybe it might be there in your mind),

Many a times you might thinks – I know this scripture – why is the Pastor repeating it – The spirit of the Lord is doing it to remind you to bring it to your life – not only in knowledge.

>> Here Jesus is repeatedly explaining a single parable – three times – each time Lord is asking – Did you understand – He who has an ear – let him hear

**Then on the judgment day – we will never be able to say – I don’t know

Verses 53 - 57 – Then Jesus went into his hometown – they are all marveling hearing the words which came out of his mouth, Isnt he from so and so family.

He didn’t get much education from this world – then how is he able to speak this deep wisdom which is touching all their lives.

>> That only the Holy spirit God can do – it discerns your heart and speaks to you.

>> For his countrymen – he was only Joseph or Mary’s son, They could not understand by His words, by the prophecies (because they had no Holy spirit in them) that He was the Messiah they were waiting for.

Verse 58 – Because of their un-belief – Jesus stopped working in their lives

>> When we don’t accept every way or every counsel that God speaks to us personally – then Lord stops working in our life.

>> That’s when we feel the emptiness and dryness within us, now Jesus is not speaking to me like before.

>> When we don’t accept all His ways – He stops dealing with us.

>> So No murmuring, No questioning back, No teaching Him what to do and No spoiling His name. Just accept all what Lord allows in your life and say THANK YOU JESUS, surely Lord will be happy to continue to work in you life and through you – You will be the most blessed person.

Chapter - 14

Verses 1 - 2 – Herod arrested John the Baptist

Verse 3 & 4  - John the Baptist spoke the law, which does not allow a person to marry another person’s wife – specially his own brothers.

>> Adultery – John spoke about the sin and might have told them to repent and change their ways. So this Herodias got angry and lovingly told Herod to lock him up and that’s why John is in jail now.

Verse 5 - 11 – Herod wanted to kill him for this immediately – but he feared people.

>> They were waiting for a chance – the devil planned in a perfectly crooked way that the people will not oppose, at the same time John will be be-headed.

>> Devil thought  - game over

** As the Bible says – Do not fear the people who can only kill your body but fear the One who can kill your body and soul and put you in hell fire.

** John the Baptist had completed his mission here
** Lord made John – the greatest of all the saints – Math 11:11

Verse 15 & 16 – Jesus went to a deserted place (because – to study the word of God – you always need a quiet time – away from all the sound and people)

>> I will not let them go away (to wander in search of physical food)

When you come to Jesus for to hear His word – surely Lord Jesus will take care of your physical and family needs – give all the burden to our Lord.

Jesus will take care of it in such a way that you will be over-satisfied to thank Him heartfully.

Verse 17 & 18 – Bring what you have to me, you don’t calculate according to science and maths.

>> What you have you dedicate and submit to Jesus, your house, your family, your children, all what you have in this world…..that  is why the Lord has given to you. Once we receive….. we think it is our’s – and we usually don’t have the mind to submit it to Jesus.

It because we don’t know who Jesus is – first go and learn who the Lord you serve is.

Verse 19 – They were made to sit,

And now disciples are serving what the Lord gave to them, before they were driving the people away to villages because they had nothing to serve.

>> So ministry means –serving to the people what God gives us

Receive from the Lord and serve to His children, Blessed is such a person, when the master comes will find him serving.

It’s a job entrusted to all of us.

>> Now every one wants a position –

For a ministry – Chairman – Vice chairman – Working Chairman – no one to serve

** Lord wants STEWARDS

Verse 21 – 5000 men means – if a man came with his wife and 2 children – there might have been 20,000 people.

Verses 23 -33 – Peter called to walk on water

24 & 25 – Jesus walked and went to them when the winds were contrary to them, and they were stuck up in the waves and winds.

26 – When disciples saw Jesus walking on sea, they said GHOST and became afraid  (with Jesus – but their superstitious beliefs hasn’t gone).

30 – Peter walked a little forward, but when he started looking at the wind, he started sinking and started to scream – Lord save me

** So when do you sink in your problems (Problem Lord allows)

** When do you scream out in fear to the Lord

When you look at the problems – and calculate it in your wisdom and according to Science – you are Gone – you can simply scream – that’s all – but your are sinking.

32 – When they got into the boat (when this test was over, the wind stopped) so this wind was blown by the Lord to teach His disciples (those who follow Him) a lesson.

33 – Now again they are being confirmed – You are truly the Son of God

>> So every to test is to make us understand so we confess to the Lord and also witness to others that – Lord – you are truly God.

Chapter - 15

Lord doesn’t give importance to the traditions of men or of your fathers, but Lord gives importance only to the word of God. Your traditions should never ever stand as a hindrance to obey the word of God.

Verses 1 - 2 – Pharisees and Scribes are behind Jesus to catch him in His words or acts and hinder the ministry of Jesus, but does these fools know that He has been anointed (Christ – The anointed One) to fulfill the will of the Father –

Why are you anointed ? – which anointment ?

>> Here Jesus is discerning their cunning trick and asking them which they are not able to answer.

Its not because they want an answer but these questions and blaming are just to trouble Jesus (the evil spirit in them is making them do it)

>> And these people forget that they are not hindering the work of a man, but the work of God.

>> They don’t want to change their ways or traditions even if Lord Jesus (the WORD) is speaking clearly to them. They are giving importance to the tradition of the elder than the law of God, many times in Old and New testament – Lord is rebuking and exhorting them – still NO CHANGE.

Verses 4 - 6 – Anyway as question is asked, they can’t escape, they have to hear all what the Lord (the one who has authority over them) has to say.

Verse 5 – They can’t meet the expenses of the parents – at that time they say GIFT (CORBAN – Heb) – means DEDICATED TO,   OFFERING

I have submitted my parents to the temple – Children who do not want to parents used this tradition as an excuse to evade the law – They would enter into a deal with a corrupt priest and a small offering – so that the percentage which should go to the parents will go to the temple – and parents are given as GIFT to the temple, thus the children will be free to take care of their parents and their responsibilities – according to law.

>> Mark 7:11 - But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban”—’ (that is, a gift to God)

>> Every Gift GOD will not accept – because He discerns the intensions of our heart and examines our life

Verse 7 – Jesus called the Hypocrites – inside crooked – outside big show of Holiness – Job 27:8

>> 1 Cor 4:5 -  Lord …will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts.

Verses 8 & 9 – taken from Isaiah29:13

>> You should know the heart (feelings) of God – be intimate…

Otherwise what is the meaning in saying that you are the child of God or a joint-heir

>> Here with great pain – looking at our outward drama – Lord says

They just honor, glorify, praise – lift up – with lips

But heart is very very far from God – desires are totally different

>> Prov 23:26 - My son, give me your heart, And let your eyes observe my ways.

Vision is different – hope differs – we are totally worldly.

9 – The worship of such people – is total waste (vain) – useless

>> They are giving importance to and teaching the ways of man, the traditions of men (which also includes a pentecostal tradition)

Verse 10 – Jesus shouts out – HEAR and UNDERSTAND

Not read only, not hear only but understand.

Verse 11 & 18 – Jesus makes it more clear

>> Your heart is the centre of all this crookedness and flesh

>> What comes out of the mouth is from your heart –

if Lord dwells in your heart – Heavenly will come out of your mouth

if World dwells in your heart – Worldly will come out of your mouth

That is what defiles you- makes you unfit to be resurrected at the coming of the Lord.

Verse 12 – Immediately the disciples are taken aback, they reacted – WHY DID YOU OFFEND them

** Man always thinks – don’t speak anything which will offend people

**God always told his anointed in

To the OT prophets – don’t look at their faces – speak boldly what I tell you to speak – strengthened – Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah etc

New testament apostles – also spoke the word in boldness – Acts 4:13

>> They asked Jesus – Why did you speak like this (Jesus didn’t say anything wrong – only truth – by the spirit of God – He told it openly and straight forward)

>> Do you know what all problem is going to come – if we don’t favor them

Verses 13 & 14 – That is when Jesus speaks out a divine truth –

In the church (groups following Jesus) – there are plants which the Lord has planted and which the Lord has not planted (just grew up)

14 – They always stand as a hindrance for the work of God

Here Pharisees and Scribes are being that way.

They are hindering others to learn the truth from Jesus

** They confuse others with their words – both will follow into the ditch (eternal fall)

** Both- They person who confuses and the person who hears that.

>> Jesus says – Leave them alone (let them do their duty – what satan has entrusted them) – that will never affect the work of God (herein the ministry of Jesus also) – God has allowed them to hinder in between –but the final judgment they will not be able to escape from the hands of God.

Verses 15 & 16 – Peter – please explain it to me –

So clearly Jesus is explaining – still they are not able to understand – its surely because of the lack of the anointment of Holy spirit – Peter, John etc started teaching boldly and very clearly later.

Verses 19 & 20 – Evil thoughts in our heart makes un unholy (Lord will not dwell – but satan will dwell in our hearts)

>> Its not outward show or outward preparation but Lord discerns our heart and deals with us accordingly.

Verses 22 – A canaanite (gentile woman) – they are not worthy to have children’s bread

>> But now through Jesus we who became the children of promise

And the real Israel – became outcast – they have no God, no priest – no temple or offering.

>> So whoever we are – Lord does not care – only if you are submissive, obedient and faithful, then only you are the children of promise.

Verses 33-38 – This is not the same incident in the previous chapter 14, even though it looks same, this is on a different day and different place. You can see the change in numbers

>> Bible is in-fallible (without errors) and the ultimate truth

>> Jesus again mentions these 2 incidents separately in the next chapter – Math 16:9, 10

>> Jesus not only gives us responsibility and jobs and make us labor – Jesus is the provider – so He also provides at the right time for our needs - here food) –

** He taught them the word and gave them food also – He had compassion

>> Here 7 loaves – 1 fish

Balance – 7 baskets full

4,000 men excluding women and children

And 21 – travelled to the region of Tyre and Sidon,

39 – Now travelling to the region of Magdela

Lord is travelling forward without rest – to spread the light of the gospel.

Chapter - 16

Verse 1 - In each village he travels – they gather, here also Pharisees and Sadducees have gathered and started testing him.

>> This time with a tricky question – show a sign in the sky

>> In Math 12:38,39 – there also they had asked a sign

Verses 2 & 3 – You know how to discern the climate by looking at the sky, but you do not know to discern the times. (You are not able to understand the times with the prophecies of the word of God.

>> Even the coming of the Messiah – they could not understand, but they are thinking great science – what’s the use.

Verse 4 – A wicked and adulterous (loving the world – unfaithful) generation seek only sign (signs and miracles) – He said that and departed from that place – no use talking further to them till they change their heart and their ways.

Verses 5- 11 – Take heed (be very cautious) , Beware of the leaven of Pharisees

>> Disciples thought Jesus was blaming them for not taking bread.

>> Jesus said – I am not taking about the 5 bread (fed 5000 men) incident and 7 bread (fed 4000 men) incident

(we only have these bread matters in our mind – nothing else – painful for the Lord)

Verse 12 – Finally when Jesus scolded them – they understood the leaven of Pharisees means the doctrine of the Pharisees (false doctrine) – teaching the people what the Lord has not told them

>> They thought it was the leaven of bread – we also always take the physical meaning of the verses in the Bible – only when Lord opens our understanding can we understand the spiritual revelation in a each verse.

Verse 13 – TO KNOW JESUS

>> He wants to know whether they understood who He really was.

They have been following Him for many years – now Jesus wants to know – so He TESTS.

Verse 14 – The answers were very surprising and shocking for Jesus –

John the Baptist,   Elijah,   Jeremiah or  one of the prophets (different visions and thinking) – not by the Holy spirit (they were not anointed – so couldn’t be led by the same spirit – which is the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD)

Verse 16 & 17 – The correct revelation which Peter told made Lord very Happy and immediately entrusted him a great ministry.

17 – Blessed are you (to whom the divine plan of God is revealed) – its not any man who revealed it to you but Heavenly father

Revelation is from Christ – The Holy spirit God reveals it to His children.

>> To know Christ – Pauls says – Philip 3:10- that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death (dead in flesh – flesh crucified – and living in spirit so we will resurrect like Jesus on that day)

>> The followers were many but only special person understood Jesus as the Messiah.

Verse 18 & 19 – You are Peter (rock)

Through Peter – the first Christian church was formed by Peter (first gospel preaching and 3000 baptism.

>> Jesus says – Church is His – and no gates of hell will prevail over it - AMEN

Verse 21 - 23 – Jesus is telling what is going to happen for Him – lots of suffering – and finally killed by the people.
>> That was not all in the mind of the disciples.

Verse 22 -  Peter sometimes thinks that he knows everything.

Last time also he rebuked Jesus because he offended the Pharisees (Math 15:12)

Anyway this time he is calling Jesus to a side – and telling him

Just because Jesus gave him the freedom to walk with Him, he thought he could correct Jesus by His ways.

>> Who can be the counselor of God – Rom 11:34

Verse 23 – Here PETER just thought – No suffering should come –

>> Jesus says – You are an offense (hindrance) to me.

Peter thought he was doing some good.

>> When you think and work in a different way than what you are called – you are a hindrance (stumbling block) to Jesus and the kingdom of God

That’s why – Jesus asked SAUL(PAUL) – Why are you persecuting me ???

>> If you are not able to get the real revelation  - you are a hindrance to Jesus.

Hindrance means – you will be teaching wrong things.

>> The biggest sin here is – You become mindful of the things of men instead of the things of God.

Verses 24 - 25 – Lord is making the revelation clear to the whole world – now no one can say that I didn’t understood

Verse 26 – What is the profit (no profit – only loss – God says)

>> Gaining the whole world and saying that I gained something – will you take it to eternity  NO.

1 Tim 6:7 - For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

Eccles 5:15 - As he came from his mother’s womb, naked shall he return, To go as he came; And he shall take nothing from his labor Which he may carry away in his hand.

>> Exchange for your soul - Is anything in this world more valuable than you in eternity – NO – So we understand from this verse that – the value of our soul (inner man) is more valuable than the earth and everything in it.

Verse 27 – Jesus is going to come soon – in all glory (not like last time) - with His angels (heavenly army – as the king of kings.

>> And Jesus is coming this time to

Ø select His bride only

Ø then reward them according to their works (for heaven)

Ø and judge the whole world

===========================================

Verse 28 – This goes alongwith  Chapter 17

Peter, John and Jacob – three of them are going to see JESUS in all glory – in body (before death) –

This is happening in the next chapter.

>> And it is written by Apostle Peter himself in 2 Peter 1:16 – 18 - but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.......“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”......And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

>> John says that we will also see the real glory of Jesus, if we are worthy to be received by the Lord when He comes – 1 John 3:2 - ….but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Chapter - 17

Verses 1 & 2 – Jesus took Peter, James and John to reveal himself to the high mountain

(Jesus took only these three when some special mission were accomplished…

>> Also when Jairus daughter was given life from death. Jesus put out all-unbelief outside, shut the door, then turned to the girl and said – Rise up. This also proves how much faith and concentration and holiness and obedience should be there – if a work of the Lord should be revealed.

>> Also in Mathew 26:37 & 38 – Jesus said to them - My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry here, and watch with me.

>> Then He became transfigured – shined out like sun – The light came from inside because He is the source of all light.

Ish 60:19 - “ The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. (also in Zacharia chapt 14)

Rev 21:23 - The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.

Rev 22:5 - There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

>> We were also covered with such a heavenly grace at our creation, but man’s disobedience made us like this – now only flesh.

>> Transfigured – completely from manly Jesus to Heavenly Jesus (like how John saw in revelation chapter 1)

Verse 3 – Here also we see Moses and Elijah speaking to Jesus – even in revelation we see two witnesses – (one is Elijah – there also the other on e might be Moses)

Maybe because – they were taken to heaven – Elijah was taken to heaven, Moses might have been taken to heaven where the angels came down to bury him – it was not a human burial.

Verse 4 – Peter always jumped and said statements and his acts were also sudden.

Peter – answers when Jesus asks the 12

Even to jump into water  and walk on water like Jesus

Peter was there in the lead when Jesus was beaten and judged

Peter took his sword and cut the soldiers ears

This habit he had till the day of Pentecost till he was anointed- so when the spirit of truth and knowledge comes – we are all changed – and we have to maintain that anointment in obedience and holiness – not simply tongue

>> Here also Peter jumped and answered – he didn’t lose his opportunity to speak in from of Moses and Elijah - we will make three houses

>> Peter is thinking in a human way- we will make independent houses and live happily here. But for them – do the heavenly mission and go back

>> We should also change to do that heavenly vision – that’s why Lord is allowing us to go through this tough training

Verse 5 – A cloud overshadowed them – means heavenly glory came and they were in flesh so they fell on their faces – could not look at the glory

>> Lord said – You don’t tell any ideas – HEAR HIM (JESUS)

Today also this is what Lord has to tell us.

Verse 7 – Still Lord comforts us

Verse 9 – There’s a time appointed by the Lord for everything, he doesn’t like it being done – before the appointed time.
>> Know the character of God

Verses 12 &13 – From these verse we understand that John the Baptist is compared as Elijah

Verse 14 - 17 – Did not have the confidence to rebuke the devil – fear, lack of faith

Verses 19 &20 – Then secretly asking – why couldn’t we do it

Verse 21 – The mystery to deliverance from satanic influences and bondages is only by prayer and fasting – Jesus says.

>> It doesn’t mean – keep the demon in front of you and pray and fast so the demon will be a VIP,

But if the demon should leave when you rebuke it, you should have the faith (no unbelief at all), the holiness and authority (confidence) for it. To gain that – you need to pray and fast.

Verse 24 – People were again behind him to ask – if he has to pay the temple taxes – (Jews had to pay this yearly)

As he was born as a Jew, yes Jesus had to pay this.

>> Another instance – tax to the government, Jesus said – what is to Caesar give Caesar, what is for God give God.

Verses 25 & 26  - Jesus actually meant – That he does not need to

Verse 27 – He is the provider – So Jesus will provide for Peter’s tax also

He need not worry about that – Peter just needs to do what Lord has called him for – Fishers of men

Chapter - 18

Verse 1 – All are disciples, but a completion between them.

>> Each of them want to be the GREATEST,  BIGGEST POSTION,  RESPECTED (on earth and in heaven)
It was the desire of their flesh which sprouted up into a silent discussion and finally to the ULTIMATE ONE who has the answer to all our questions.

Verse 2 – The examples of Jesus are always simple and the message will be clear by that answer.

>> Bring a little child to Him – the little child was ready to jump and come to Jesus, he did not think a second time (but if it was us, we would have thought about all the possible consequences – and delayed coming to Jesus – and Lord’s plan will not work out in our life.

>> in Mark 10:14 when Jesus explained this portion He added by saying - He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

Verse 3 – In Mark 10:15 - Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”

>> In this verse  - converted as a little child

Verse 4 – Next in this verse we understand  - Humble as this little child- He will get the greatest position in heaven.

Verse 6 – From this verse onwards Jesus says about – OFFENSE – HINDRANCE

>> If we become a hindrance to any one of this child (Child of God)

>> Luke 17:1-3 – not only a small child – any of your brother or sister (also in Mark 9)

Verse 7 – Offenses are allowed by God – it must come – for the Lord to reveal many things – but let it not come through you.

>> Why should you be the bait for satan’s hook – why should you be the reason for the problem.

Verses 8 & 9 – How much Lord hates the OFFENDERS and how harshly Lord spoke against it – without any mercy – cut it off – pluck it out.

>> Also in Mathew 5:29, 30

>> But in Mark 9:43 – 48 – Lord warns – whats going to be the after effect-

If your hands, foot, eye hinders your spiritual life  - Cut it off or pluck it out – otherwise you will surely end up in HELLFIRE – Jesus explains it so clearly all the 3 times that – there in HELL – Worms does not die, and the fire will never be quenched

·        Lord is not bothered about our organs – or the wellness of our body – but about the perfect growth of our inner man.

>> so be transformed as one of these child (no jealousy, no arrogance, no competition – No crookedness – but their simplicity

>> who has turned you away from the simplicity in Christ – the pureness

Verses 11 - 13 – The love of Jesus is always after the lost sheep

>> We forsake very fast – but if Lord doesn’t forsake – we should not forsake

>> Be led by the spirit to know the decision of God

>> Jesus is seeking the sheeps who are straying from pasture to pasture without a shepherd – this is a trick of satan – because he knows that finally that person will spiritually die.

Verse 14 – Jesus doesn’t want anyone to perish- so he gives every one a chance

Verses 15 - 17 – How a personal problem or a problem related to church should be handled.

·        If your brother or sister sins (sister is hidden in the brother from creation onwards),

>> first tell it alone (as guided by the Holy spirit)

>> Then with 2 or 3 fellow members

>> Then if still refuses – announce in the church – and treat him/her as a gentile or tax collector.

>> First personally and try it with group, the final judgment is the church, the judgment of the church is final and by the Lord.

Verse 18 – Authority on us

Verse 23 - 34 – Then we have another parable – which is compared by the kingdom of heaven.

>> From this comparison – we understand how to go to heaven

>> A certain king when he checked his accounts – 10,000 talents

First he ordered all things and family to be sold till debt is paid

Then when he cried forgave all

Then as he walked away free, now as this servant saw another man who owed him a very little amount – 100 denari – eventhough he cried – did not forgive and put him in prison till his debts are paid.

The king came to know about it – called him – You wicked servant – delivered him to torturers until all this big amount was paid (almost lifelong)

Verse 35 – Forgive as Lord has forgived to you

Eph 4:32 - And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Ø Love as Lord has loved you (John 13:34John 15:12)

Verses 21 & 22 -  Forgiveness – Is 7 enough, (according to OT law – 7 was enough

No – Jesus said – according to the New law – 7 x 70 – Around 490 (or 500 times) in a single day – means always forgive.

Ø In the first verse we studied – who is the greatest in the kingdom of God – a person who transforms himself to the simplicity and openness of a little child.

Math 10:16 - “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Chapter - 19

Verse 3 – Again those Pharisees are following Him and asking question – not to know the answer – they are not accepting what He says but just to test Him – to lock Him in His words.

Verse 8 – Moses allowed you because of the hardness of your heart – to divorce your life partner which Lord has given you.

>> It was easy to blame your wife or husband that he / she had another relationship and divorce.

Verse 5 & 6 - God has joined let not man separate, God made them one – they are one body. Both of them will leave their families and join to be one family.

Wedding was God’s plan, so don’t be against the plan of God

>> This is a Holy relationship – that is why God has taken this example to represent the relationship between Christ and the church as Bridegroom and bride.

>> It is to be taken very serious – because we will be accountable to God – whether we are faithful or un-faithful.

Verse 9 – Every one takes this verse as the only verse in the Bible (eventhough it was said to the Old testament people) which might allow a person to divorce a woman due to adultery.

>> People forget to take the second part of the verse

WHOEVER MARIES HER WHO IS DIVORCED COMMITS ADULTERY

>> Mark 10:11,12 - And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

>> Also in Luke 16:18 – so 3 times same verse in the Bible – very important

NOTE :

1 Cor 7:10, 11 - Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife.

1 Cor 7:12 -14 - Even if your husband / wife is not a believer, you cannot divorce your spouse for that, they have to be sanctified by seeing your holy life.

1 Cor 7:27 - Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife.

1Cor 7:39,40 - A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.

>> Malachi 2:16 - “ For the LORD God of Israel says That He hates divorce…..

>> Rom 7:2,3 - For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives……

Verse 11 & 12 – Only those who are called and given the gift or grace - to be un-married for the kingdom of God – only let them remain un-married.

>> We know that some churches – take this verse and have made a rule in their church and whoever wants to do the work of the Lord – have to remain un-married till the end of their life – they have made a church rule – which is not the counsel of God – so its satanic – making opportunities to sin till the end of their life.

We know that all the disciples of Jesus were married and did the work of God very faithfully – as it is the biblical rule in 1 Timothy and Titus – that the shepherd of a church must be the husband of one wife and a person who keeps his family in discipline.

Verse 16 - 22 –

16 – (Mark 10:17 - there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him)

18 & 19 – In two verse Jesus told him the 10 commandments in a breath

20 – This young man said – I have been following all this from my youth

(He had a desire and a calling – So he asked Lord – WHAT DO I STILL LACK

>> These days this should be our prayer – surely Lord will speak it very clearly to us

21 – If you want to be perfect (In Mark 10:21 – one think you lack) – his area to be changed – His mind was on his riches – so Jesus told him – sell it off – then only you will be able to be my disciple –

Don’t worry about the losing riches – when you exactly obey the counsel of Lord – you will have riches in heaven.

22 – He was not ready to part with – what the Lord told him – because his mind and heart gave a lot of importance to this world’s riches. He wanted both riches here and there, he wanted to be respected here and honored – that’s not possible.

>> He had a calling  (but not obedient) – because he asked Jesus – What do I still lack – but as he couldn’t obey the counsel of Jesus – he will not go to heaven – here it says – He couldn’t follow Jesus – with great pain He went away from Jesus.

What is the use of that pain and tears – if it will not save you from the punishment of God – if you cant obey exactly what the Lord says – if you cant forsake what you love so much – at the voice of Lord.

Verse 23 – Surely I say to you – It is very hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God

Verse 24 – How hard – as hard as a camel going through the eye of a needle.

>> Jesus repeated it two times in Mark 10 :23 - 25

>> When worldly riches increase - (James 5:1-5)

Verse 25 – So hard – then who will go to heaven

Verse 26 – With your strength –it is not possible

But with God all things are possible – He will give you the strength to forsake all the hindrance.

>> Hand or Leg or Eye – Lord says – Cut it off – Pluck it out – because the most important mission is –that we go to heaven

Verse 27 – If we forsake and obey all your words – pay the great price – what will we get

ANS : Lord says – You will rule with me

Verse 29 – What ever you forsake at the voice of God –you will get 100 times in this earth and great eternal rewards in heaven – great honour.

>> Mark 10 :29, 30 -  Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left ...... for My sake and the gospel’s......who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.

Chapter - 20

Verse 1 – This parable of workers in the vineyard is compared to – how it will be in the vineyard.

>> Land Owner – Lord

He hires his servants and tells them what to do

Verse 2 - He also fixes the work – there’s an agreement with every single individual – it is not same – that is why Bible says – the calling is different.

Verse 3 –      3rd hour (after the day comes – early in the morning)

Then 6th hour, 9th hour, and also in the 11th hour (day was almost getting over)

Verse 4 – Whatever is right – I will give you

Lord did not say – what you ask I will give you – but whatever is right – I will give you (Also verse 7)

>> Peter also asked this question in the previous chapter – Math 19:27 – What shall we get – Lord has the same answer always –I will give you what is right.

>> Lord never does anything wrong – He will never do anything to harm us, but whatever He does is for our good – He is a righteous God.

Verse 6 – Each time He takes a round – He is asking –Why are you standing here idle. He never allows anyone to stand idle, if we do so, immediately Lord Jesus – you are called – come and work in my vineyard.

Verse 12 – Now the complain part – will Jesus hear the complain and do accordingly- NO – he told them

>> Don’t I have an agreement with you, do that and God will give you rewards.

Verse 13 & 14 – Did I do anything wrong with you, don’t interfere in what God is doing in others life – start thinking about your life and calling, about your rewards.

Verse15 -  I know what to do, don’t teach me.

>> It is my things, the work of the Lord and the word of God, the ministry

These are all mine things

>> If you are not happy when your fellow believer being rewarded by God, then your eye is evil

Verse 16 – That’s how the first becomes last.

>> Gal 3:3 - Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?

NOTE : Many are called, few are chosen.

Math 7:13,14 - …. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

>> Not how much we did, but how we did – did we do it exactly according to the counsel of God

The basis of how we are rewarded is not based on the number of years we have been a believer or and evangelist or a pastor, but how faithful you were to your calling and work entrusted and how obedient you were to the counsel of God.

>> 1 Cor 3:12 – 15 - …each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is......If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss

Verse 17 – From this verse onwards Jesus is moving towards Jerusalem as the time of His crucifixion s near.

Verses 18 & 19 – Jesus is sharing about the plan of Father, how the ministry is going to be now, he will be given to the chief priest and scribes to be crucified (only because He gave himself according to the plan of God could they touch Him). This cross - only for our Joy and deliverance from sin, to change the law of sacrifice, and so that any person can run into the Holy place calling ABBA FATHER. To make all of us the children of God and the inheritors of Heaven.

>> He didn’t tell them, that the story was over, he told he will go through this great unbearable furnace of God, but immediately – on the 3rd day he will get victory – great victory – he told them about His resurrection also.

Verse 21 – Immediately we see a human desire, specially a woman’s feeling – make both my sons (James and John) sit on your right and left. She only thought about the good future of her children.

Eg: Sometimes when Lord is speaking to us about his pain, about our spiritual life, about the churches these days and asks us to speak out even if alone,
** At that time also we are asking about our future and our children’s future, how painful it is to the Lord.

**It immediately proves that you are very selfish, not even caring about the pain in the heart of God

**And that you did not understand a single thing what Lord was speaking to you all these years – how shameful

>> Same thing happened here –Zebedee’s wife proved to all those people and Jesus that – none of Jesus’s preaching went into her head – she was simply saying amen and halleuyah.

Verses 22 & 23 – Will you be able to drink the cup that I drink –

James and John said – YES we are able

>> Anyway Lord accepted that request (also his mother’s request) and allowed James to be the first martyr (Acts 12:1,2) before the minister hardly started. So that he will get a good position in heaven.

>> We also know how much persecution John suffered before going to Patmos and even in Patmos.

Verse 24 – Other disciples displeased or jealous – because if Jesus gives them that hot seat.

Verses 25 - 27 – Jesus discerned their intention and competition inside, this gentiles do -  and said – NEVER – if you want to be bigger than your fellow worker (brother or sister),be his/her servant – problem solved – by Jesus – no other way- otherwise Lord will make you into that position to minister them.

Verse 28 -  Just as Jesus, you also are called to serve – not to be served.

>> If you have a complain that your brother or sister is not helping you, first you help.

>> If your complain is he/she is not smiling at me, first you smile.

Verses 29 - 34 – Two blind man being healed by Jesus

>> Many people tried to make them silent – but they did not fear the people, again they shouted –Son of David (King of Kings) – So they believed that this was the Messiah – their Savior – born in the tribe of Judea or family of David.

>> No one in the world could keep them silent

>> As Peter and John shouted out to the world – we have seen the glory of God – how can we keep quiet.

>> Like Paul – No high or lows can separate me from the Love of Christ.

Chapter - 21

Verse 1 – Whenever Jesus sends disciples, he send them atleast two in numbers.

>> Its always good, in the terms of a team spirit and in checking each other – always to keep the limits as an evangelist, so that satan will have no complaint against us.

Verses 2 & 3 – God will arrange all what is needed for Lord’s work, because it is not our work, it is Lords work.

>> The only thing is – never try to fit half of your plan, but completely obey what Lord tells you to do – don’t re-think with your wisdom – how is it going to be possible – when the Lord tells you – it means – Lord has already turned people’s mind also.

>> Here – Just say – The Lord has need of them – and immediately he will send.

When you use the name of Jesus – no one will oppose that authority – we are anointed and God has given us the confidence to use that authority. Let us not lose that confidence like the children of Sceva.

Verse 4 & 5 – Spoken by Prophet Zechariah in Zech 9:9

It is time that - this prophecy has to be revealed

Verse 8 – Figuratively they were greeting Him as a King, which he really is going to come – in the second coming – in the same place.

Verse 9 – And all the people started singing Hosanna as said in Ps118:26

>> This place is in Jerusalem near the mount of Olives, a place which He always travels - Till now no one recognized Jesus as messiah – No people gave Him praise – but now it is the time when Father is glorifying Jesus in Jerusalem – because the whole world should know that Jesus will again come in this same place – on the mount of Olives as King to rule the whole world.

Verse 10 – Whole city was moved

Verse 12 –

We see the first purification in John 2:13 (from the Bible we understand it’s a different incident) because –

Ø It was in the beginning just after the miracle in the marriage of Cana

Ø In the first incident (in John) Jesus made a whip and drove them out

Now again as a second purification of the temple – In Math 21:12, Mark 11:15 and Luke 19:45 – this is happening to the last of His ministry, just before crucification.

>> So in the beginning of His ministry and in the end we see Jesus cleansing the worship place.

>> Satan’s idea is always to defile the temple of God (by bitterness), either our gathering or our heart.

>> In Ezekiel’s and Isaiah’s and Jeremiah’s time – God took His anointed servants – took them to the temple of God – with great pain - and showed them all the abominations

Now Jesus is reminding them with authority,

·        What is worship

·        How a worship place should be

·        What is consecrating to the Lord (we cant give when we feel like and take back when we feel like) – some people submit their children, their home, their time, themselves and take back when they feel – Is it possible ?

>> He did not ask their permission, because it is not their life (its God’s), it I no their place (it is God’s) – then how can they take decision as they feel like.

>> No Committee in Lord’s work or worship place. Only Lord should take the decision, and people should not try to change it, they should not do what they feel like.

>> When we slowly move away from the counsel of God –first a pricking, then after sometime no problem – we will feel everything is fine because their will be a special help from the devil – a special worldly blessing also – so he/she never re-thinks or regrets about his ways.

>> Lord says  - repent – cry – understand where you have gone wrong – repent and correct your ways – so that the light of the Lord will shine upon you.

Verse 13 – taken from -

Isaiah 56:7 - ….. For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Jerem 7:11 -  Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of thieves in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it,” says the LORD.

>> When we read the last times of Jesus in Jerusalem in Mark and in Luke – we will understand that Jesus was in great pain – looking at the people of Jerusalem – the city of God and the temple of Jerusalem.

NOTE - Here in this incident Jesus is opening their eyes to make them understand – How serious Lord’s matters are. Never can we thing commercial about the ministry or worship or doing something for the Lord.

Ø IF YOU CAN’T DO SOEMTHING FOR THE LORD FREE, DON’T YOU. Lord doesn’t need your service.

Ø Don’t make money in the name of the Lord, Don’t try to be famous in the name of the Lord.

After all this incident – Did they understand – Here Jesus (the one with all authority took the whip –

>> Only very few who were called might have understood – Others might have thought – Why is Jesus being so strict – why can’t He be a little free – after all we are humans – we have our needs also – other things also should run

Verses 14 - 16 – When they saw this – they couldn’t tolerate (the satan in them).

>> Verse 16 – taken from

Ps 8:2 - Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

>> Here Chief priests(The only ones authorized to minister in holy places) and Scribes (Authorized Bible teachers)

>> So who are they authorized by – man or God – So there is a lot of difference between ordaining for a ministry by God and the making of a minister by man. That is the biggest curse of today’s ministry.

Verses 19 & 20 – When it didn’t have fruit when God expected (may be it was not the season – that’s one of the reason’s why the disciple’s marveled)

>> 2 Tim 4:2 - Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

( Not according to your mood or your providence – whether God heard your prayer or not)

>> John 15: 6 (also read 4 & 5) – If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

Also Math 7:19 - Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

>> When Lord doesn’t see fruits on us – His time of examining – He just says – From now on – Let you be barren – that all

That’s why in this Mathew Lord has told twice after clear parables–

>> Math 13:12 and Math 25:29 -‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

So none of our excuses – Lord want to hear – maybe husband or wife, maybe childens or parents, neighbours or the situation you are in, the job or the people around you – NO EXCUSES –

>> if you want grace – aske God – He will give you in abundance

>> if you want more filling of the Holy spirit – prepare yourself in more sanctification ( as it is Holy and it is the same spirit of God) and ask the Father- He will give you more than what you ask.

Verse 22 – This is what the Lord reminds – that’s you ask in prayer – prayerfully in the spirit – ASK – the things you need to do the heavenly work which God has entrusted you.

Ø Now what are we going to ask –

Ø Lord is eagerly waiting

Ø Satan is also eagerly waiting

Ø Let not our prayer put Lord in pain, but may the Lord rejoice through our prayers, let the heaven gates be opened as we worship and witness His name.

Let guard ourselves in holiness and separation.

Verse 23 – They (Pharisees, Scribes and the priests) are again questioning Jesus. Satan’s plan is always to question our authority and anointment. Only those who have the confidence and approval from the Lord can answer the devils back boldly.

Verse 24 – Many a times, Jesus puts a counter-question instead of an answer. Those who expect an clear answer will get it, but if we have an other plan and asking or taking decisions, or showing great zeal outwardly as show, then Lord will also deal in the same way with them.

>> Ps 18:25,26 - And with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd (to the crooked, God will also deal crookedly)

This also means – if we love the Lord will all our heart and with all devotedness – then our Lord will also love us more than anything.

Verse 25-27 – They are fully trapped in such a way that they are not able to say anything, whatever they say it will be favorable for Jesus, so from their mouth itself, Lord brought out a favorable reply – it doesn’t mean that they have repented and transformed, but without their liking – they are made to confess the plan of God. How much they were cunning (playing games to God) – that much the problems they will have to face.

>> Here also they were not able to answer the counter question of Lord, how many times has Jesus made the satan in them ashamed, still no shame still following Jesus – just to question his authority and to stop His ministry

>> Many are continuing – these days – just for this – not to serve the Lord – but to show their wisdom and authority.

>> Here Jesus said – as it is not the true spirit in you – and it is not because you really want to know – so I am not telling you.

Verse 28 -30 – Again dealing with them (answering them) – through a parable.

Parable – About the two sons – in different ways

>> He doesn’t want to hear – that same oath – I will do Lord, I will work for you, speak for you, I will guard myself in holiness. I will witness and glorify your name. He doesn’t give mark when we say our decisions what we will to do – but only when it is done.

>> God doesn’t give mark, for your spiritual show, but He looks only at our intentions and desire.

>> Lord weighs you with His scale – and scans you with His fiery eyes.

Verse 31 – Lord always tells examples – and final makes it clear that – through Prophet Nathan - that sinner is you –  (like when David – got a shock – for taking another persons wife.)

>> Lord replied that – those so called sinners will go to heaven (if they repent) but you will not be resurrected.

Verse 32 – Likewise even when John came, you all heard but did not believe (thinking that you are perfect – you do not need a change.

But the tax – collectors and harlots believed (they repented of their old sins) – so they will enter the kingdom of God

Verse 33 – Now another parable explaining all the work of the Father throughout these years and periods. Here the landowner represents Father, Son represents Jesus, His servants which are send one by one at different periods.

Verses 38 & 39 – In prophetic language Jesus spoke to them that you are the parties who are going to crucify me. Still they didn’t understand.

Verse 41 – Who are these other vinedressers (from a different category), because it was after the crucification of Jesus – it is surely the new testament servants and children of God –

What does the Lord expect from us , more than the old testament servants (like Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel etc) - because the anointment and authority upon them is also greater

>> Lord expects us to render to God – fruits in their season.

Render your works to God – what you are doing for the kingdom of God – which of your work is being fruitful (there should be a fruit that master should see).

Verse 43 – Because Israel was not fruitful to God, Lord will take this vineyard and give it to a group – whom the Lord expects to be very fruitful.

>> Look at the expectation of God – from us. We still prefer to be Normal believers. When are we going to be fruitful (not for ourselves) but for the kingdom of God.

Verse 42 – Now a prophecy taken from Psalm 118:22,23

>> That rejected stone – Father has made it the chief corner stone of the building of the new Jerusalem (the dwelling place of God)

>> Even we – who were rejected by the world – in many ways – now as the Lord has chosen us – we are also being shaped to be placed above the chief cornerstone (Jesus),

>> ISNT THIS MARVELOUS ?

>> The level in all angles should be accurate (when compare to Jesus), as it is Lord’s work – no compromise – you will be finally accepted only if you have reached that perfection.

So grow on to the perfection of Christ

Verse 44 – Don’t play with this stone, if it falls on you (if you are trying to play games in the presence of God) then you will be grinder to powder – your address wont be there – Lord warns the world.

Many places in Psalms and Isaiah – Lord says – you shall be scattered as the chaff, you shall be broken into pieces.

Verse 45 – When Jesus warned openly – that they understood – they immediately told that Jesus was speaking about them – he is poking us – so lets finish him off – but immediately they feared the people (what will people think)

>> Still they are not fearing the one who ought to be feared – the REVEREND.

>> Till now Jesus was speaking mysteries about the kingdom of God and being fruitful – that they did not understand – but now as they were provoked – that they understood –

>> Pity – because they didn’t have a straight and true heart in the presence of God.

>> Lord has nothing to do with it – He gives everyone a chance – and a free will, it is these hypocrites and Pharisees who are going to cry and scream on that day of Judgment but Lord will turn his face from them.

Chapter - 22

Verse 1 – Jesus was speaking to the Jews in the temple, he is continuing to speak to them there – again in parables.

Verse 2 – Again a parable comparing with the kingdom of God (This is the 43rd parable in the Mathew)

King – Father,  Son – Jesus

This parable is somewhat related to the parable n the previous chapters.

Verse 3 – sent out His servants (disciples) to call those who were invited (the Israel).

Verse 4 – The message through His servants was that – everything is prepared for you – Please come.

Verse 5 – But it was a joke for them – they didn’t take it serious.
>> They went after their own work and business – this money making and their own affairs was more important for them than the great wedding.

Verse 6 – The rest of the invited – attacked and made fun of His servants – and even killed them.

>> Jews did this to the disciples of Jesus – even now the world is doing this to the servants of God.

Verse 7 – He send out His heavenly army – destroyed those murderers

(all those who oppressed the work of God – they were wiped off without any address – except few who repented and accepted this invitation).

>> and Burned up the city – the judgment will also be upon the city where it happens – Lots of examples like Haiti – Afghanistan – Iraq – Syria , Orissa etc.

Verse 8 – The invitees are not worthy (How great you think you are – But if Lord doesn’t find us worthy – He cuts us off the list of this great wedding which is going to happen)

Verses 9 & 10 – Now God is not bothered about a nation – but the selction has become individual – No differences between good or bad – because Lord knows how to sanctify, edify, anoint and prepare for the wedding.

Verse 11 & 12 – He is an over smart fellow – that’s how he mange to byepass some of the cleansing and grooming process and came directly to sit at the wedding.

>> How much ever smart you are – when my Lord ask a straight question after examining you – you will surely be speechless.

Because Lord will only be asking you right to the point – which no person can deny – but stand guilty – heads down and ashamed.

>> Even these days – people don’t follow the word or the counsel of God – they want to do it their way (they have their arguments for that) –

They do what they feel like – according to their way – and they fully believe that they will go to heaven.

Verse 13 – After Lord’s examining –

He is in the wedding, went through many process (even not all), he paid some price to reach till here.
>> There is no half mark for the half change happened –If you have reached the level of perfection Lord desires from His bride – then you are not just out of the marriage but HELL FIRE.

>> King said – BIND HIM and cast him into the outer darkness – where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Verse 14 – And the reason is HIS PRE-DESTINATION

>> Many are called – and come half the way
But only FEW are chosen and faithful.

Verse 15 – Again the Pharisees and team are behind Him (by the satanic spirit) –even though their designation is to serve the Lord.

>> They are still after him to see for any chance to entangle Him in His speech. After all these years of following Him – they didn’t get a work to attack Him.

Verse 16 – Praising and buttering Jesus – to whom are they playing games.

>> To the King of Kings and Lord of Lords ???

>> To the One who know the future and the One who controls all the creation of God.

>> To One who is the source of all life and wisdom.

Verse 17 – Should we pay the taxes –

>> They thought – as Jesus didn’t have the money at the time to pay the heavy taxes. As He didn’t have money now – He might divert His teaching a bit  - divert the truth for a little gain. No Lord will never do that.

>> You have or not – the teaching is from above –that Lord whom we serve will not compromise or change the law of life – for us.

>> You have or you don’t have (whatever) – His law is the same forever.

Verse 18 – Jesus always speaks the truth – even if you like it or not

>> Jesus asked them – Why do you test me – You hypocrites.

Verse 19 – Show me – let everyone see.

Answer is to all who gathered there.

Verses 20 & 21 – Whose image is on it. Render to Caesar what is his

And render to God – that are God’s.

>> So you don’t look at others – how they live or how they do. If the mark or the seal of the Holy spirit is upon you – God has separated and marked you for Him.
You have no other option but to live and be fully useful for God.
>> When the mark of God is upon you and you try to live for Caesar (this world) – that’s when everything in your life will turn upside down and the help of the Lord will not be there – until you reconcile.

Verse 22 – Satan ashamed – their crooked plan didn’t work – immediately satan and demon possessed will leave –because as long as they continue on Lord’s presence – they are more ashamed

Verse 23 – Here we see the Sadducees ( a political group in the Jewish community which doesn’t believe in resurrection )

>> So in those days also satan prepared different groups who believed in the word differently.

>> Their question is very weird and difficult to believe. A woman having all the brothers as husbands – and all her husbands are dyeing.

They don’t know that they are telling this foolish story to the one who has the keys to life and death.

Verse 25 - This woman married all the 7 brothers – whse husband will she be

Verses 29 & 30 – Jesus says - You are ignorant of the word of God

Those who go to heaven will have a heavenly body – and the family here will not be a family there. You will feel no such affection or no family in heaven – except the family of God – where the church of God will be the bride.
>> So a family relation is only for this 40-50 years maximum – or till the trumpet blows – so give only that much importance when comparing with the eternity we have to leave in heavenly mansion loving Jesus.

Verse 34 – They are all controlled by one spirit (evil) – so when they saw Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, a Pharisees (a lawyer) asked a wise question –

>> Which is the greatest commandment –

You shall love the God with all your heart (nothing else in this world – you might have family – children – job – business – land – money – positions)

But love only the Lord

>> Then the second commandment is – Love your neighbor as thyself (hardest part)

Verse 42 – Now Jesus is asking them a question – Who is Jesus.
Then why is David calling Him – Lord

Verse 46 – When the truth of Jesus is proved – devil will keep quiet and go away ashamed, now devil understood – No more question – Now lets finish Him.

Chapter - 23

The last verse of chapter 22 proves that – No one dared to question His authority or the message of God any more –

Ø Because there is an appointed bracket period for everything

Ø Jesus is moving into the next level of authority of ministry where He is ministering in a greater authority – pointing out their wrong doings publicly.

Verse 2 – They sit in Moses seat – just in seat of power – they are trying to be the inheritors of this authority.

>> They are not appointed by God – but by man – it is power and authority that they want.

Verse 3 – So Jesus was teaching the multitude (followers) and His disciples. You should not do as they do or what they say because they are doing what Lord wants them to do – they are not at all an example to follow.
>> Look into the word and follow the council of God – not the council of any organization.

Verse 4 – From this verse onwards JESUS clearly criticizes and blames the Pharisees – Scribes – Jewish Council.

>> Jesus is blaming them so – as a warning for people – so that they do not be like that – EVER.

It is satan who made them like that – they did not automatically be like that – it is always satan who makes a parallel governance – which slowly moves people from the real council of God

>> Only heavy discipline – no life – as these rules are not from the Lord (like the Muslims Shariat law)

** Amd even with their little finger, they are not helping to live according to the law,

Verse 5 – Jesus says - All their works are – just for show – to the society – not to please Lord – they are acting.

>> Philip 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

>> John 12:43 - for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

John 5:41 - Jesus says He does not accept praise form man

Gal 1:10 – Paul says – If I accepted praise from man, I would not have been a servant of God.

>> Their dressing uniform – different from others (for respect).

Verses 6 & 7 – They don’t want to be ministers – but rulers and desire only big and main seats. They don’t have the humbleness of the Lord.

>> We have a Jesus – who washed His followers feet and said – you also do likewise.

John 13:15 - For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. (how many of us are doing it)

Verses 8 -10 – Don’t call anyone Rabbi (GURU) or any one FATHER or LEADER

Verse 11 - 12 – Humble yourself and God will life you up. Don’t try to lift up , yourselves

Verse 13 – Eight times Jesus says – Woe unto you – and calls them Hypocrites.

>> You will not go to heaven for sure (the righteous judge proclaims)
** But as many are following you, they will also not go,
** So never follow the leader, but be guided by the Holy spirit.

Verse 15 – They canvas and run to catch the people and put them in the basket – finally making them worthy of hell – The Lord of all truth is saying this.

>> The presence of the Lord is not a place of numbers, its not a competition that – Catch him before someone else (your nearest competitor) catches him.

>> The invitation is to all – But it is Lord who decides – who is worthy for it – who has the marriage dress.

Verse 16 – Jesus curses (Woe unto you) them and calls them Blind guides.

>> All those who are not led by the spirit – but their own understanding are Blind – guides.

Verse 23 – Even their tithe giving for show.

>> They are being satisfied of their tithe giving – but Jesus here says in the above verses – they will go to heaven.

>> So giving to the church alone – does guarantee heaven.

>> They were very strict in small matters (mint and cumin)

And neglect the important matters (faith and judgment)

Jesus says – You ought to have given the tithe – without leaving the others.

>> So in our Christian life – we ought to be perfect in all areas, don’t be satisfied with few good qualities or decisions you have. Lord tells them – you are not worthy for heaven.

Verse 24 - 26 – You filter a mosquito and swallow a camel.

** Inside you is all greed and all lust.

>> First clean inside the cup – then only outside will be cleansed.

>> Only if your inside is cleansed – can the Lord fill you or use you for His glory.

Verses 27 & 28 – Even if they like or not – White washed tomb

Inside full of hypocrisy – Only Jesus with fiery eyes can clearly see it.

>> Jesus says – Inside rotten like a decaying dead body

Verse 33 – Children of vipers – so all they have poisonous devil as their father. They are not born of Jesus.

>> You are all going to stand in front of me on that great day (they didn’t know the seriousness of it.)
>> How will you escape that great judgment.

From verse 37 onwards – a prophecy of the destruction and the pain that Jerusalem will go through, it will be ground (to powder) but not destroyed.

>> Lord says – How many times I wanted to save you –but you were not willing.

Verse 39 – Again a prophecy about Jesus

>> You will be destroyed – but Jesus will be blessed.

>> Verse 38 – Your house will be desolate.

Chapter - 24

In the gospel of Mathew the teachings mainly are–

Ø The sermon on the mount (chapters 5, 6 & 7)

Ø The teachings through different parables

And the teachings on Mount Olive ( which we see in this chapter) - (verse 3)

Verses 1 & 2 – It is great and very important things which Jesus told in this chapter.

It is again repeated in Mark chapter 13 and Luke chapter 21.

>> Even the disciples were proud of their Jerusalem temple – the buildings and work. When Jesus saw that they gave importance to the organization and building rather than – the presence of Lord and the counsel of God.

That’s when Jesus spoke out the real truth – for the whole world to know that –

Ø These buildings are not important – or eternal (its your relationship with Lord that counts – if the Lord should stay within your heart – that the real temple of God) – not  concrete building.

>> Now we know that – history says – Roman Emperor Titus spoiled the whole city including the temple. But at that time – when the magnificent and really large structure stood strong in front of their eyes – the disciples were shocked and really couldn’t believe it.

** even in our life when we tell God something which we are excited of, and Lord replies – NO – I am going to demolish your plan – How much rebel we become – How much in shock and in despair – But understand that Lord of all wisdom and power knows the future and He has a much better plan for us – and that plan will spoil all satan’s plan to destroy us, satan will ne ashamed and Lord will have victory – Lord’s name will be glorified through us.

** For us – we look at the outside, we think and understand with our small brain – which has its limitations – it doesn’t know what is going to happen tomorrow.

**But for the Lord – when He says a word – he knows the future – so His statements are accordingly – also His judgments and His ways are in accordance with what the Lord has in mind (not what we have in mind)

>> In Ezekiel’s time- (read Ezek 8:5 onwards) Lord and Ezekiel is out – eventhough the smoke of incense fills the temple, 24 elders along with the high priest doing all kinds of actions and presentations there in front, filled with people, the pillars are carved and decorated with wine leaves, the altar is also decorated wonderful – BUT God and Ezekiel (one who continued faithful in the anointment) is outside – Lord says – all abominations inside – so I will not enter inside – still worship is going on inside in full blast (Who are they worshipping?? Who is accepting their worship??)

Verse 3 – So as they all sat on the Mount of Olives – it was time for Jesus to reveal the future – and for the whole world to know that – He is the Lord of past, present and future (eternal).

 >> Now as the disciples started to understand that Jesus is the Lord of all wisdom and authority– Jesus knows what is going to happen – so they came personally close to Him and asked a tricky question where they needed a clue.

** Bible says Jesus is the Master Builder and the Master craftsman, so doesn’t Lord know how to design and plan your life for the glory of his kingdom and worthy to be inheritors of His kingdom. If He blocks something means – That’s going to be a danger in your life – its for your good.

>> Verses 4 – 8 – This tribulation is the tribulation of the first apostolic times, the fight with the forces of darkness started from the beginning of grace period, and an anointment is given for that.

In those days started – again wars – destruction – fight against the church of God, many became martyrs, lots of false prophets and false teachers standing up to confuse them from the true word.

Ø When is the destruction of the temple going to happen ? (Luke 21:5-7, again verses 20-24) – It is not very clearly mentioned in Mathew, but the same portion is more clearly mentioned in the same portion in Luke.

Ø When will be the end of ages ?    for believers (verses 9-14)

and for Israel (verses 15 – 22)

Ø What will be the sign of your coming?   (verses 23-51)

Anyway Jesus is going to explain the answers of this questions –

Verse 8 – So what all is told from verses 4 – 8 is not the happenings of the end days but the beginning of Apostolic time (or the grace period)

These are the beginning of sorrows – or just the beginning of grace period – the salvation to all nations.

Verse 12 – Because Lawlessness increases (live as you like) – among believers, the love among believers will grow cold.

Lawlessness – church is now not going according to the law of the Bible – but man-made laws and laws which are newly made to please people so that thousands will simply gather.

>> This is a great mystery Jesus spoke – let us examine ourselves.

Verse 14 – After the gospel is preached to all nations – then the end will come.

Ø We can see that in this chapter, Lord is dividing the message to different groups, Lord message and relationship has always been like that.

>> 1 Cor 10 :32 - Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks (the gentiles) or to the church of God (we see the 3 groups here also – that is why the message to different groups in this chapter)

Verse 15 – From this verse onwards – He spoke as a prophecy to Israel.

Daniel 11:31 - And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.

Verses 16 - 22 – This is about the redemption of Israel

Verse 20 clearly proves that it is to a people who celebrate Sabbath, we don’t worship the Lord of Saturday but on Sunday.

Verse 22 – Here it says – No one will be saved or there is salvation to no person other than a nation Israel being saved – no individual salvation through Jesus because it is about a time after the Grace period is over, the church is taken and the holy spirit leaves this world.

Verse 23 – from this verse onwards – it’s a different topic – about the coming of Jesus for the church.

>> 2 Cor 11:4 - For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!

Verse 24 – False Bible teachers and False prophets will arise very much

2 Tim 4:3 - For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

(A huge majority – they will heap up teachers who teach according to what people want – instead of the counsel of god by the holy Sprit)

Verse 25 – Don’t be deceived – there are all chances that you will be deceived by this different gospel and different spirit that’s why I have told you beforehand.

Verse 27 – His coming will be like a lightning – comes and goes before people even know about it.

Verse 28 – His living stones taken up to the mid skies – even the Holy spirit (which stopped Anti- Christ from being revealed) taken up with the church.

>> Then what is left – dead ones – the Anti Christ and Beast and the evil creatures gather in full strength like eagles.

Verse 29 – When the church is taken up, the tribulation starts – then sun and moon will be darkened and stars will fall (very clearly in Revelation that it will occur in the time of which seal and which trumpet)

>> In Verses 28 & 29 – there is a brief description about what is going to happen after the church is taken – that is where many new gen teachers are confused and teach in their wisdom.

Verse 30 – This is the continuation of verse 27, as a thief- as a lighting – Now Jesus will not come to the skies – coming in the clouds.

(In the second coming to this world after the tribulation (as some teach – a false teaching)– really Jesus is not going to come in the skies on clouds but He is going to come in Jerusalem on Olive mount, sitting on a white horse, with armies of heaven following Him and ten thousands of saints ready for the marriage (Rev 19:11 – 17).

Verse 31 – The trumpet will blow, and He will gather His elect (specially chosen through Christ) from all four corners of the world.

Verses 32 & 33 – As people judge the season looking at the fig tree (the people of those understood) this as a sign. When you see this – know that the coming of Jesus is near.

If this chapter was saying about the second coming on Mount Olives (after the tribulation) – this sign was not needed, (Jesus told the real signs to His disciples when they asked Him how the church would know that His coming is near) –because that coming –Bible clearly says that after 7 years from the Rapture – Jesus will come a second time to this world to fight for jews –when they will look upon whom they have pierced.

Verse 34 – People of this grace period

Verse 35 – No change in any word – in the Holy Bible

Whatever changes – church laws, people’s mentality, government laws or anything – the word of God has no change – it is applicable for the mankind of all ages.

Verse 36 – Only Father knows the correct date (of the Rapture)

Once Rapture date is known, then 7 years of great tribulation can be calculated – In Bible 7 years and 3.5years and days are also given. Even 1000 year rule can be calculated from the Rapture.

Verses 37 - 39 – Like the days of Noah – preached for around 100 years, not a single soul was saved other than his own family.

The people were only bothered about their marriage, eating drinking and being merry.

>> And suddenly the flood came and took them away (judged them), it was too late of them of thinking to get saved.

Verses 40 - 42 – From a single family, people working and staying together, the faithful will be taken and the others all will be left behind.

>> Watch –Be awake – any time, satan will sow tares in our heart when we are sleeping (spiritually week).

Verses 43 - 44 – Here we see the Parable of the goodman –

Again warning – you do not know so always be cautious and waiting.

Verses 45 - 51 – Parable of the faithful servant –

>> This parable starts with the question – Who then is the wise and faithful servant – what is the duty

>> To give Lord’s people needed food in the correct time – this work can only be done – fully controlled by the Holy Spirit.

46 – That servant (we all are) is blessed – not money or position

47 – To such a person will only the Master give more responsible missions.

There are Lord give missions – and man-made organizational mission,

Only the work which is exactly done according to the counsel of God will be a accepted – and there the Glory (Shekinah) His Holy presence will be revealed. (like in the tabernacle)

48 – Majority satan is making like this evil servant  - My master is delaying, so I will live as I like.

50 & 51 – Punishment not immediately – He will continue in lifestyle – thinking Nothing is happening to me, but on that – the Master will come - which he will never expect and CUT HIM INTO TWO, and put him in fire, all hypocrites will join him there.

How much cautious and understanding we should be.

Chapter - 25

The message in the previous chapter (teachings on the Olive mount) continues here. Here in this chapter Lord is getting deep into the message to be conveyed to them.

Verse 1 – Here we see a parable comparing with –our heaven – how we can inherit heaven.

>> As we all know – 10 ten virgin

>> Their Lamps -That was the only light they had . People don’t understand the importance of the light which is entrusted to them, and the fact that it has to continuously burn.

** Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Ps 119)

** Be guided by the Spirit then, you are my children (Rom 8)

So from these verse we undertsnad the word and the spirit always has to be burning and being lit up to its full brightness, in our heart.

>> Not only when we are in a meeting, but always, otherwise in that spiritual sleep or dull time, if the bridegroom comes, we will not be received.

>> And in the sleep time, devil will come and sow tares, which will always be a hindrance for us to grow spiritually.

Verse 2 – Before itself Lord knows – who are wise enough to take that great wedding – serious and will finally reach there.

Verses 3 & 4 – They only took the lamps (at that time it was burning), Jesus says – they did not take separate extra oil, in a can so that when the oil in the lamp finishes they can fill.

Verses 5 -7  – All slept, when the joyous cry (the sound of the coming),

All turned on their lamp – the wise had filled their lamps even before sleeping, they were always serious and waiting about going with the bridegroom – when the call comes.

Verses 8 & 9 – When their lights didn’t turn on – they asked the wise. The wise denied – because all this was earlier discussed, but the foolish were not bothered about it – why are you trying to teach us, after all its just a matter of lightning a lamp when the groom comes.

Verses 10 - 13 – As a thief comes in the midnight, like a lightning, like in the times of Noah and Lot.

>> Then the door will be shut for ever – NO SECOND CHANCE at all

** Lord just denied – I don’t know you

After the grace period –there is no mercy and grace – He will be a very strict impartial judge to rule and judge (punish) in full authority.

Verse 14 – Parable of talents  (also mentioned in Luke 19:12)

Here it is 3 servants –and the order of talents

5 made 5, 2 made 2, 1 did not trade at all

(There in Luke – 10 talents given to 10 servants, first made 10 more, second 5 more)

Lord might have told the parable in different ways – by the spirit according to the people of each place.

Ø As we read the same parable from Luke 19:12 –

Verse 13 – Do business till I come (Jesus says – continuously trade your talents  for the glory of His kingdom)

Verse 14 – People’s mentality – We don’t want this man ruling over us always

We don’t want to obey the rules which he says

We know how to do – Its our life – why always for the Master – why cant I live my life my way – like the other gentiles

What is Master going to do – (As the gentiles say – He couldn’t save His own save when crucified)

All the doubts Lord will clear – when the appointed time comes – It is not as you believe or think.

Verse 29 – MYSTERY – to him who has more will me given, to him who doesn’t have – what he has will also be taken

>> Also clear in Luke 19:24 – 27- ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.     But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me. (final judgment)

This servant was just LAZY – but Lord called Him Lazy and Wicked servant – put him in hell fire – WHY – for not trading his talents to make profit for the Master –

>> So HELL is the answer to all those who don’t do the work of the Lord – according to your calling and work entrusted from above. Lord explained it so clearly through parables –no one can escape saying – I didn’t understand.

Verses 31 - 34 – Now after parable – a clear picture that this parable is about how Lord is going to judge the whole world.

About the serious judgment we can also read in Zech chapt 14 and Revelation chapt 19

34 -  He has started to prepare our eternal home – not just 2000+ years, but from the time when the foundations of the earth was laid – so thousands and thousands of years.

Verses 35 - 46 – What Lord has given us is not for ourselves – it is for our brethren and the work of the Lord, as the spirit guides, if we don’t do our part – Lord will ask.

>> To whom more is given – They will have to settle more accounts

>> Many read this verse and move away from Evangelisation and do just charitable work to all gentiles – like Mother Teresa.

>> As we read verses 40 & 45 – What you do to one of my brethren (the brethren of Jesus) – the body of Christ – They are righteous

>> Gentiles might blame us that we only do to our brthern – what can we do about it – This is the law by the Law maker – JESUS – Can you edit it according to your convenience.

Chapter - 26

This is the longest chapter in all the gospels (75 verses), it could have been divided into two or three but it has not been divided as it was all important – focusing on the cross to come.

If you just read this chapter you might think that Jesus is helpless and his sorrow about his pain to come – but all this has a message.

Verse 2 – As a prophesy – Jesus foretold (before also he told about His crucification)- but here he is telling the time

Verse 4 – They could now work out their plans because it was Father’s appointed time for that great event – the starting of a New testament – as a Salvation for us.

Verse 5 – Jesus told that he will be crucified on the Passover, but they planned – we will not kill him on that Passover – because people might protest.

>> But which plan or prophecy was fulfilled – the one which Jesus spoke. So always understand that – we plan many things

Verse 6 – Simon the leper –he was a leper once –

Leprosy will never be cured on its own or by medicine – so Jesus might have cured him that is why he is now able to sit with others and dine, or others coming to his house for party.

>> Now Jesus made him – worthy to have fellowship with others

Verses 7-9 – She poured this very costly perfume on Jesus head.

>> Who is she – also written in  Mark 14:3-9, Luke 7: 36-40John 12:1-10

Then we will understand many more facts – that

Ø This woman was Mary (Lazarus’s sister)

Ø Mary was a sinner woman before

Ø Simon was a Pharisee (and a leper) before

Ø And it was Judas Iscariot who murmured about the cost of the perfume

Verse 10 – What is good work – the work which gives glory to Jesus – the work of the Lord.

Verse 11 – Lord expects this work for Lord – more than charity.

Verses 12 & 13 – So her name will be written in the Bible – and read where ever this Gospel reaches.

Verse 14-16 – What did Judas do – He blamed – why this great expense for Jesus –

And then Judas did just the opposite – of what this woman did.

>> Judas was waiting for a time when – the people (audience) will leave him – and Jesus will be alone –

>> When this demon came upon Judas (the disciple of Christ) – He became totally unfaithful – He did not think about the consequences – How will look upon the face of Jesus or the disciples. What about the hand of God.

Verse 17 & 18 – Things regarding the ministry of Jesus – will be arranged form heaven. Lord will influence hearts for His glory.

Verses 21-25 – Jesus gave a hint, then in verse 25 – Jesus made it clear – that he was the man – and it was good if he wasn’t born –

>> Jesus explained so clearly still – as he was demon possessed – it didn’t go into his head and that demon dragged him to eternal perdition.

>> Why was he demon possessed – eventhough he was the direct disciple of Jesus – HIS LOVE FOR MONEY

>> Made him so blind to kill his Savior – how cruel

>> 1 Tim 6:10 - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

25 – He is calling – Rabbi – but demon possessed – so even if you are demon possessed – can you call Rabbi – Guru – Teacher - Lord

Verses 26 & 27 – Take eat – this is my body – Then the Lord Supper together – still no change for Judas (How many times Lord spoke to him through direct word and song.

Verse 30 – The sang a song together with Jesus – Lord was strengthening them to face the problems which are coming

Verse 31& 32 – Then again as a clear prophecy – Lord spoke directly to them – quoting from Zech 13:7 - “ Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, Against the Man who is My Companion,” Says the LORD of hosts. “ Strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered; Then I will turn My hand against the little ones (puny).

>> Great persecution going to come in the coming days – But I will go before you

Verse 33 & 35 – Peter’s zeal was good, but he lacked the heavenly power and change in vision – at this time.

Verse 34 – People look at your outside zeal – but only Lord knows how stable you are. How firm you are – How much you know

>> Only when the testing becomes hardest that you can’t endure – still you look on his face without denying Him – that’s when you pass the test.

Ø Till the time - such hard endurance testings are not there, you will say that you are very strong in the Lord.

Verse 36-40 – When the burden of the sins of the world became too heavy for Jesus to bear (even though He was without sin),

He wanted to pray – to put down all the burden at the feet of Father, He wanted to talk to Father. Actually Jesus didn’t need to do that – or be baptized, but as the first-fruit, as the role model, Jesus showed us the way through His life.

Verse 38 – Jesus doesn’t request all the disciples, only those who work according to His heart, only those who are willing to share the burden in the heart of Jesus.

>> When sorrow becomes so heavy, as if we were going to die, but all those in the Lord will get a comfort from the Lord of Lords.

Verse 39 – As he came down in a human form, as a man Jesus cried to the Father – take this cup away from me, but when strengthened by the Holy spirit,

>> NO – If you desire that I should pass through it, let it be so – Verses 42 & 46

38 – first time

41 – second time

45 – third time – Are you still sleeping ? (tired and resting in the bossom of this world)

Verse 41 – The spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak

>> That is our main enemy, the main enemy which we always have to fight with is within me – that’s is what weaken us, make us worldly, to rebel against God.

Verse 50 – Then we see the Judas kiss

Friend - Why have you come – (why are you being used in the hands of the devil for your destruction)

Verse 52- 54 – Peter – I don’t need your sword for my work

>> If I call, from heaven will come the heavenly army (thousands and thousands of mighty angels)

(12 legions means - The word “legion” is a military term that was taken from the Roman army. A legion denoted a group of at least 6,000 Roman soldiers, so here 12 legions means around 72,000 angels.

>> In Ish 37:36 and 2Kings 19:35   - it says - The LORD's angel (1 angel) went out and killed 185,000 soldiers in the Assyrian camp, and they were all dead bodies.

>> But still Lord kept quiet – for the prophecies to be fulfilled

1)    Like a sheep going to be slaughtered – as an example for us – that we also learn obedience by the ways of Jesus – Just go through what Lord has allowed – He will give you abundance of grace and strength – all this is to fulfill the will of the Father.

2)    The prophecy Jesus told in the above verse – I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered (taken from Zech 13:7) – also in Mark 14:50)

Verse 57 – They brought Jesus to the high priest – Caiaphas

Annas (Father in law) and Caiaphas (Son in law)= shared the same position – one year each – year after year. (John 11:49John 18:13)

>> Peter somehow got permission to follow Jesus to the inside courtyard – Peter wanted to see the last

In John 18:15,16 - Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple (JOHN). Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.    But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought Peter in.

Verse 60 – Many false witness came forward, they are people who always boldly say lies, but here none of them could say against Jesus.

Finally they brought two false witnesses (by the spirit which was in Judas) to boldly work against the spirit of God) – today this spirit is there in many so called believers to work against the work of God – it’s a spirit of destruction

Verse 61 & 64 – It was two truth which Jesus told - but they understood its as lies or blasphemy (they call themselves the children of God)

1)    I am able to destroy the temple of God and build it within three days

2)    I am Christ, the Son of God

This is what happens many a times – people don’t want to believe the truth

Verses 65 - 68 – They are making fun of Jesus

>> And the high priest tore his dress, which they shouldnt do

>> Levi 21:10-12 - ‘He who is the high priest among his brethren, on whose head the anointing oil was poured and who is consecrated to wear the garments, shall not uncover his head nor tear his clothes;

Levi 10:6 - Do not uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the people. But let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD has kindled.

>> This is how the priesthood ends, and when the curtain is torn by God from top to bottom –all priesthood ended for ever.

>> They did this to emotionally move people so that people with one accord will shout – to kill Jesus – and they can move this appeal to the Pilate – and have Jesus executed.

>> But from then on – they lost their priest hood and all the priesthood stopped from the crucification of Jesus

Chapter - 27

Verse 1 – When you hear you Father’s voice the whole world will be against you, they will isolate you, they will try to finish you,
>> Its just because of the calling and anointment upon you. How they tried to kill Moses or Jesus

>> When you see a heavenly vision – and obey the Lord counsel – You can see the powers of darkness of that place following you with great power to finish your ministry and confidence in Christ.

** But Paul said to the King – Whoever you are (he knows – but he doesn’t want to respect or obey, I want you also to be like me)
And I from that day onwards (the day Lord spoke to me through vision) I will only obey that heavenly vision.

** The day Joseph saw the heavenly vision – in which God will use him for ministry – from that day onwards – he was put in a dry well, sold as slave, lived as slave, lived as prisoner (again because he said – that I have a law which I cannot break)
But God was with him – all the time – till God used him in the ministry Lord wanted from him.

Verses 3 & 4 – After Judas was made to in sin – satan left him all alone. He came back to his mind and now with pain – trying to confess to the priest (the partner in this world who enticed you to sin)

>> But the satanic reply was –What should we do – you were cheated ?

** The is what devil the deceiver always does in our life

** Devil and his partners in this world will always be with us till we sin – either by eye or ears or heart or hands or mouth – and finally when we fell for sin – he leaves us in that miry clay pit and runs away laughing and we crying.

** After the satanic act is done, satan leaves him, that’s when a person comes back to his mind like Judas – its too late now – he denied and forsook his Lord and Master. Till that time he (disciple of Jesus) was enticed by a satanic influence and spirit and didn’t know what he did.

>> That why the Bible says do not keep place to the devil

>> Again in James 1: 14, 15 – you are enticed and moved away by your own desires.

>> Here Judas was enticed by his – love of money

Verse 5 – Look at the dedication difference –

>>  John 12:3-5 – Judas couldn’t tolerate this woman giving 300 pieces of silver(a one year’s man labor) for the glory of the Lord.

>> And finally he sold JESUS for 30 pieces of silver.

So cheap

When you don’t want to submit yourself completely for Jesus – you are given away completely to satan – by the Lord – its Lord who gives us away to debased mind – then we don’t know what we are doing
Here Judas hanged himself – instead of travelling countries as a powerful anointed servant of God.

Ø This evil mind with us – is a work of satan and it should be destroyed

The  son of man came to destroy the works of devil in us

Ø For people these days – the evil mind setup is just like Judas –

·        When its done for God – why this expense (even when their dedication and time and efforts)

·        But for themselves they spend all their time and efforts – and finally nothing useful for the kingdom of God

·        When satan binds our minds – tell him – all my efforts will not go waste – all the work for this world will go waste
1 Cor 15:58 - Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Verse 11 – They are asking him question – and satan is testing, the world want him to say an answer where he can escape the hatred and opposition of the world

But as Jesus was full of Holy spirit, he always told the right answer in the spirit of truth.

In Math 26 : 63, 64 (immediately the high priest tore his dress and emotionally moved people and the rulers to kill Jesus

Here in Math 27 : 11, 22 (Pilate also forsook Him to be crucified)

>> If you say anything other than the true word – it is ok,but when you testify that Jesus is the only way to heaven – or any other true word from the word of God, immediately devil will move the people and government to kill us or destroy us.

Verses 20 - 22  - They know that Barnabas is a criminal, no one liked him or wanted to help him, but just to destroy the truth (Lord of all truth), the priest made the people to shout the name of Barnabas, and crucify Jesus.

Verse 24 & 25 – When Pilate washed his hands and said he has nothing to do with him, immediately the people of Israel shouted – Let His (Jesus) blood be upon us and our children.

>> In their arrogance they said so – but Father recorded that in heaven and even today – dealing accordingly.

>> Before we  say any word in our anger or arrogance, let us think ten times, because from this verse we understand that every word is recorded in heaven.

Math 12 :36, 37 - But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

·        Even today, they are crying for peace

·        Because they chose Barnabas (the world) instead of Jesus
In all our areas let us examine – what we chose ???

>> John 19:10, 11 – Then Pilate said to Him -  Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?”

Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one (Israel) who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”

Verse 27 - 30 – They gathered all the soldiers around him and stripped him, and spat on him, thrashed this crown of thorn on his head (to bleed)

>> Ish 52:14 - Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred (disfigured) more than any man,

Gave a stick in his hand and mocked him as if he is a king – all this because he told the truth – that he is the king of kings.
>> If the heavenly Father need to punish the mocker and satanic workers, Lord will first allow us to be humiliated, then the Lord of host will come down and work for us – when we call on His name.

Verse 34 – They gave him this sour wine – again in verse 48

Also in Ps 69:21 - They also gave me gall for my food, And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

(they usually do that, so the person gets intoxicated and does not know the pain), but Jesus did not drink it to bear all the pain (that was the will of the Father – to deliver us) –

Lord Jesus paid the complete price – that’s why Lord demands obedience, you were already dead in sin, Jesus redeemed you, now it’s a new life you are living in the courtesy of the price Jesus paid for you - that’s why in

>> I Cor 6:19, 20 - and you are not your own?

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

>> 1 Cor 7:23 - You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.

Verse 39 - 43 – In our mind – we might think – if Jesus would have come down then they would have believed and satan would have been ashamed -
>> Jesus could easily have come down but Jesus didn’t – because He was the Son of God.

>> And God has a greater plan – for the Joy and Salvation of the whole world
And not only to make satan ashamed – but to destroy all the plans of satan
Now the name of Jesus was lifted to the name above all names
all knees will bow

all tongue will confess

that Jesus is Lord
Now Jesus is the God of all nations (before only Israel)

So if we endure – as we go through the testings of God, there is a great work of God to be revealed – and it will be through us –

What a great honour – Praise God

Verse 44 – Even the thieves (who are already sinners and worthy to be blamed), they are also making fun of Jesus

Verse 46 – Jesus cried out loud – Eli, Eli, lama sabchthani

>> Taken from Ps 22:1

The answer is in Ps 22:3 – For you are Holy (it was our sins – the reason for suffering on the cross, to be a cursed, afflicted and forsaken – even by Father – to redeem us by paying this great price.

>> Only by paying price you can get a soul for the Lord,

·        To make a person receive salvation and after that – to build him up in Christ – you have to pay a heavy price, the joy in the heavenly work is

·        As on earth Lord will fill our heart with gladness

·        In heaven Lord will honor us

Verse 50 – Jesus gave up that manly life back to Father
Death did not take His life away (as in us) – but Jesus (authority over everything) gave up His soul

>> Apostle Luke makes it more clear in Luke 23:46 - Jesus said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’”[n] Having said this, He breathed His last.

Verse 51 – The curtain of the temple was torn from top to bottom (to prove that Father tore it from top to bottom), if a man tore it it would have been from bottom to top.

>> The main message of Father to all human kind is -
Now salvation is not only to Jews, ministry is not only to Levites – but to all those who are born again and washed clean in the blood of the Lamb,
>> We can run anytime to the Holy place and call ABBA Father (through Jesus – he is our only mediator)

Verse 52 & 53 – Only Apostle Mathew recorded this event. We know only this much from the Bible.
>> It is not that – they resurrected but

Many dead got life (like lazar) and they came out of their tombs and lived like other people, and then later died a natural death.

>> It was a miracle – to prove to all those who mocked Him and gathered at Golgotha

to prove to the whole world that my Lord lives and He can do miracles any time.

>> Such an incident happened at the time of Elisha’s burial – 2 Kings 13:20,21 - they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.

Verse 54 – more clearly written in Mark 15:39

That centurion who was standing beside – feared greatly – and said – Truly , this man is the Son of God. When the Jews couldn’t believe -this roman centurion - confessed that Jesus is the son of God, maybe he might be the first believer before Cornelius (also a centurion) from Caesarea.

>> Lord does many work to give people a fear of the Lord – so he believed that Jesus was the Son of God – Messiah

Verse 55 – When all His own disciples ran away and dispersed, these women stood far and watched Jesus closely, they followed till here.

Verse 56 – three Mary’s

·        Mary Magdalene (Mark 16:1 – these woman again

·        Mary – the mother of James and Joses (mother of Jesus – Math 13:55)

·        Mary the mother of Zebedee’s sons (Math 4:21 – the mother of James and John) – Also Math 20:20-24 – She asked for special blessing – Lord gave her sons a special baptism again (a baptism (showers) of sufferings.

Mark 16:1 – these woman again went to the tomb to anoint Jesus with sweet smelling spices.

Whoever leaves Jesus – if I am alone, still I will follow, They are not willing to leave Jesus .

Here Peter boasted – whoever leaves you – I will not leave you, he was the first to follow. These woman did not boast – but they followed – so they heard the heavenly voice.

>> Lord does not want to hear boasting, but the real faith and trust. Will we be available.

Verse 57 – Till now this Joseph from Arimathea is not in the picture, he was in the back and a believer in secret, but when the time of Lord came, suddenly Lord strengthened him and he also received the strength to do the ministry which Lor had called him for.

Why this rich man Joseph  - for the prophecy in Ish 53:9 – to be fulfilled - And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death

Verse 58 – He came forward boldly (which even the disciples couldn’t do) and asked for the body of Christ. The real disciples couldn’t even boldly witness that they were with Jesus.

>> Jesus was crucified as a big criminal (it was the sins of the whole world) at that time and the government was looking for Jesus followers but still this Joseph was bold to face whatever consequences and went directly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

Verse 61 – These sisters were there at the time of the burial and in Math 28:1 – at the time (on the 3rd day) when Jesus had told that he would resurrect.

·        The other disciples and followers all forgot, or they were not ready to go to the tomb and check,

·        When a small opposition came from the government, they were dishearted to serve the Lord

·        Most of them forgot – the promise what Jesus had told – about the resurrection (wasn’t that the reason of the coming- the most important purpose of God becoming man) – salvation to the whole world – now the New testament ministry starts – now the great work of evangelization should e done to the whole world (travel and go) – that is the time when the disciples and other followers lost all hope and couldn’t even believe that Jesus would even resurrect.

·        Satan thought he could spoil the plan of Gospel and this New testament. Then we see it was the spirit of God (the power from above which revived) which gave them that power to  witness and the boldness to accomplish the will of God in their life

·        Once they were baptized and filled by the spirit, then tongues and prophecies and vision and Bible teaching started in full swing – for the edification of the individuals and the church.

Verse 63 & 64  – They called Jesus a deceiver

and his promise of resurrection – a deception

>> Actually the real truth – even today satan is telling the world – don’t believe it is a deception – by the faithful – by the spirit of God will be build faithful on the corner stone.

Verse 65 & 64 – do whatever you can and secure it as much as you can (satan tried with all his power and wisdom)

>> But when the appointed time came (Gal 4:4)– But when the fullness of the time had come -  all the seals and guards fell – and the power and glory of the Lord was revealed – for His glory.

>> So every work in our life will also be revealed for His glory.

>> We get the power to wait and trust till His time – only by the spirit of God

>> Ask, seek, knock – till you get that full filling overflowing power from above

Let this vessel be clean and sanctified for the spirit of God to be filled with.

Take new decision – let each bondage of satan be broken – in our life – and the ministry of the Lord will be revealed.

Chapter - 28

Verse 1 – These two Mary’s came to the tomb with incense – as said in other Gospels. Mark 16:1 and Luke 24:1.

>> On Sabbath (Saturday) He was a dead man, but on Sunday (Jesus is alive) He resurrected, that’s why the first day of the week is a day of life and resurrection. A day when we are spiritually lifted high by our Lord.

Verses 2 & 3 –  The events which happened in order.

·        A great earthquake

·        An angel of the Lord descended from heaven (he was send by the Lord to strengthen and confirm His children)

·        He rolled the stone from the door an sat on it (to explain to them in detail – what happened)

·        His countenance was like lightning

Verse 4 - 7 –

·        Even the guards shook with fear and became like a dead man, so how terrific and heavenly was the glory of an angel (our ministering spirits), so our glory is going to be much beyond that.

·        Angel said – Don’t be afraid – let me come to the point – the purpose of God sending me as a messenger to tell you that –

·        Jesus is not here, he is risen, see the place where He was laid (to make sure personally that He was risen

·        He knows where you will be going, so He has already gone before you, He will meet you there.

Verse 8 – Before hearing about Jesus, no fear and no rejoicing,

Now after hearing from Jesus, they have fear and great joy.

Verses 9 & 10 – As they were going, Jesus personally encouraging them – Don’t be afraid, Go tell and encourage the brethren (disciples).
>> Tell them what to do (go to Galilee) and I will meet them their.

>> First meeting with angel,   then with Jesus (first the sisters (they came first, then the disciples)

>> Those who come first to meet and serve the Lord will first get the heavenly counsel directly.

Verses 11 - 15 – Satan’s plot – with his small brains

>> But it will never hinder those who are specially chosen.

>> Lord’s policy is – He catches the crafty by their wickedness

Job 5:12, 13 - He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands cannot carry out their plans.

He catches the wise in their own craftiness, And the counsel of the cunning comes quickly upon them.

>> so when money is given – even the faithful Roman guards change the truth to a lie (or cover the truth).

Money is the root of all even – and people covering and twisting the truth.

>> Jews and Muslims in their tradition believe this but from both these nations, But thousands and thousands of God chosen people have come out from them, and lots of servant of God from them stand bold and faithful today.

** Satan planned - If Jesus didn’t resurrect, how can he be the Son of God.

>> But Today also His tomb is open – with the words saying – He is risen – He is not here.

>> And the transformation and the great work of God in us proves very clearly that Jesus is risen

Great opposition leaders like Paul – who was once bounded by Satan – became completely bound by the spirit.

His will – His desire – as a bonded servant – please the Master completely – and He says – I have finished my race faithfully.

Verse 16 - 20 – When they saw Jesus – some worshipped Him, some doubted (they were influenced by what the world said) – who is the loser – they are

>> If you are not able to believe Him completely -  then don’t believe –

>> Being called a believer – but not able to believe and trust in Him – it’s a shame – it’s a waste – says the word of God.

>> Now you decide – if the spirit of the Lord dwells in you – let all doubts leave.

As we are in flesh – many doubts and weaknesses might come, but immediately be strengthened in His spirit and His might.

>> THE MISSION – The mission given to us – Therefore – Go make disciples (not some believers) – baptize them ,

Teach them to observe what I have commanded (not the bylaw of any organization)

>> And then I will be with you – till the end of the age

Philip 3:10 – that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

1 Peter 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Rom 6: 5, 6 - For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,

Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
